falsifying the idea of falsification

RE: falsifying the idea of falsification

We all believe in science including yourself. Hard science like chemistry, thermodynamics, motion physics, medicine.
We all rely on these sciences every day. They are applied or practical sciences.

What you are skeptical with is soft science. Theory of evolution, cosmology, climate change.
These are theoretical sciences. They operate on a far lower standard of evidence and are often driven by peoples beliefs.

I wonder what makes you think that?
Evolution is one of the best supported if not the best supported theory there is. Certainly better supported than much of physics. And of course evolution is used in medicines.

His "philosophy of science" is more of a process in determining real science from pseudoscience, i think he may have even invented that term

He basically says that if a claim cannot be tested (falsifiable) then it isn't scientific
We cannot test if there is or isn't a God, therefore it's not scientific to claim either

Why cant we test for a god?

The only reason I can think of is because they aren't a real thing.

(April 1, 2020 at 5:35 pm)Agnostico Wrote: Big Popper was a huge critic of the theory of evolution his whole life. He called it a pseudoscience and tautology among other things
Only later before he died did he say he accepted the theory though he never believed it or considered it to be scientific

Well he was wrong. It is scientific.

I encourage u to look at the subject a bit deeper.
Karl Popper really developed this skeptical way of approaching science which has really been lost, allowing several pseudosciences to emerge

What do you consider pseudoscience? I am starting to think you will lump some well established sciences in there.

(April 1, 2020 at 5:35 pm)Agnostico Wrote: An excellent identifier of a possible pseudoscience is if there is disagreement that spans over a decade or two

I find that a bit dubious .

It's really quite... something to deny evolution as Covid-19 is rampaging across the world...

Your god is falsifiable - and if making a god falsifiable is a problem, then you've created the problem for yourself.  Maybe stop doing that and you won't find yourself compelled to bitch about science as often?

if you can identify that i am wrong then it should be easy for you to explain what it is i am saying (not just me but a few of your brother atheists btw)

The thread exists. It has been easy for me to explain what you're saying.

You're bitching about science, as if it even mattered to your gods falsifiability. If there was no science, your god would still be falsifiable - and still be falsified. If god being falsifiable makes it "not god" - then you have made your god "not god".

that no where close to what i am saying you understand that right?

my subject matter has nothing to do with god but how the fathers of modern science define science, verse all other fields of study.

Do you understand this?

I understand that you have no argument and are bitching about science.

I get that you strongly believe that you do, and are doing something else.

what do you mean no evidence? your peers who understand the information and links provided agree, that poppers work narrows the field of science for the purpose of legitimising what can be vetted through the scientific method and what can not.

At work.

Sorry to have missed it but.... what can not be subjected to the scientific method?

..What do I mean about...no evidence...? What the fuck are you even babbling about?

There you go getting popper wrong, again, anyway. Popper addressed logical positivism. Poppers work delegitimized -any- product of logical positivism.
