FWIW, the "pools of white shit", not just with bacon but with any other packaged meat..aren't there just to goose their sales. We love them, as consumers. They make the product taste the way we want it to.

Never heard of single serve packs of bacon.
Here the smallest pack you can buy is 500g.
I get the kilo packs which is exactly the right amount for a dozen eggs.

Pork bellies are selling for the lowest price in more than 20 years. Bacon ought to be cheap right now, but retail prices are up instead of down.

Bacon would be cheap, but China, because of swine fever, is buying massive amounts of pork. Since they’re buying so much, it’s both driving the price of bellies down, but creating a strained market in the rest of the world, which is driving the price of the finished product upwards.
