That used to be my pet cat. I had to put him down when I found out he was freebasing catnip and holding up liquor stores.

Be interesting to examine the voting along country lines.

I live in Australia, where it's very difficult to own any kind of firearm. Coincidentally we have one of the lowest rates (per capita ) of gun deaths in the world. The US has one of the highest.

In my opinion,an urbanite does not need a firearm in my country.

To be blunt,I really could not care less how many Americans blow their fool heads off. None of my business.

The fatuous and disingenuous arguments used by the NRA in the US remind me of this cynical aphorism:

If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71.

No gun crime in the UK, nosirree.

Quote:One neighbour, who saw the shooting but was too terrified to be named, said: “He was begging, literally begging for his life. I didn’t dare look out my window in case they saw me. I heard them laughing and swearing at him, calling him a ‘b***h’. I heard them laughing afterwards as well.”

I can say one thing, I don't think this would have gone down this way in my neck of the woods. Quite honestly if you make a phone call, obviously out loud, to have someone bring you a gun so that you can assault someone, you're probably not going to make it out of the store. Instead of HIDING IN FEAR IN HIS OWN HOME that neighbor would have at the very least owned a deer rifle & could have stopped this from their front porch / window.

That thug had no fear of reprisal.

Still among the lowest rates of gun crime per capita in the world.

I'm entirely willing to believe that's because you Brits live dangerously enough on those wrong-side roadways.

Well it makes sense that countries that have guns banned would have less gun crime. If a country banned cars DUI would go down too.

The key to those phrases though is GUN crime. I seriously doubt crime in general was hampered at all, people will just shift to knives or something else. People have robbed and stolen for all of recorded history with whatever tools were available at the time, and a gun is just a more advanced club to a thug.

haha. Yea we have no need for guns...lacking dental hygiene, having sex with our ugly women and driving on the wrong sides of the road is all the dangers we need.

I'm sure Raymond Mitchell is very happy he's a statistical outlier.

Unfortunate for him yes. Fortunately, statistically a lot less people go through what he has here than they would in other countries that have freedoms to own firearms.

I'm not getting into this discussion again, because unfortunately it turns all to easily into an America Vs Britain thread the second fire arms are mentioned. Your way works for you guys, but don't start (again) with the pot shots at us, because our way works too.
