Any of them nonhuman animals?
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day

At a thousand meters?

Many are the animals who will kill you at 1,000 meters. Some are members of NRA.
I have three categories. Humans, people, and animals. I don't confuse animals with people, that would be rude to the animals.

Unfortunately, I.Q. would be a poor indicator of whether a person would be a safe gun owner. Some studies seem to suggest that certain mental illnesses, such as severe anxiety and major depression, are more prevalent among intelligent people.

Well yes, I too would be anxious and depressed if I was surrounded by a lot of creationist, christian, redneck retards with guns.

I had a gun when I was younger, killed just about everything that moved, I don't see the attraction anymore. But I suppose one would come in handy if things feel apart.
I used to kill people for $257/month. I didn't correlate that with sport shooting.

BTW, I don't hunt animals. If it doesn't have a fair chance to kill me back, it's no fun in my book.

Im sure you found other people trying to kill you fun, not what ive been led to beleive talking to combat veterans.

So you've killed people or a person? It's a bit different being in the Military and owning a gun in civilain life. Generally, people don't go around shooting other people.

And you still didn't answer the original question.

I use "fun" in the manner I use "interesting" (based on the ancient Chinese curse, "May you leading an interesting life.") It's very stimulating being shot at, and coming from a deadly dull small town in Indiana via strange and exotic places to a land were it seemed everybody was out to kill me was rather like being translated bodily to another planet. And yes, I killed people.

But, as I said above, I started shooting before I joined the Navy, and continued after. My local gun club is very popular, we shoot anything up to and including M2 .50 cal. pieces. (This is the reason I joined that club, I hadn't touched a Maw Deuce in years.)

As for collecting, I'm a historian, my interest is in items that have full provenance and are original is all respects. When I die my entire collection goes to the Smithsonian. (They have six of my guns on permanent loan now.)

The Smithsonian is great. Me and my family thank you for your donations, past and future, to such an important institution.

They will go as "non-exclusive", so they could wind up anywhere in the world if some other institution has an extra example of something we don't, and one of mine is a duplicate. The only one I know won't go out is traceable to Matthew Perry, with him when he went to Japan.

I don't have a lot of time this morning but I did have to drop by to add this.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/201...101532.htm

Quote:Author David Hemenway studied the various risks of having a gun in the home, including accidents, suicide, homicide, and intimidation. Additionally, the benefits of having a firearm in a household were also examined and those benefits included deterrence, and thwarting crimes (self-defense). From this in-depth look, it was concluded that homes with guns were not safer or deter more crime than those that do not. In fact, it was found that in homes with children or women, the health risks were even greater.

I support gun ownership. I own three guns currently and love trap shooting. I am not a hunter though.....i'm a puss and couldn't kill an animal tbh.

eta: I also support restrictions and requirements to take safety courses...and to update those courses every few years or so. I've seen too many idiots out on the range (though most are the christian militia end times wierdos).
...bows to no god, kingdom, or state...

And they're the people who definitely shouldn't be allowed to have guns.
