It's his religion...lol, which should be banned, so, on topic.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Ban it, shut it down and make it go away.

It is no good to mankind , government, society, schools, laws, culture, or individuals. Note: I did not say "of no use". That is the problem, it is used to control.

Ban it, shut it down and make it go away.

No matter what, it will always go bad. It will always be shoved down my throat through laws, culture, etc

Ban it, shut it down and make it go away.

Some have said that if one wants to believe, keep it to themselves and there would be no issue. I contend, with empirical evidence at hand, that this is not, has not, nor will ever be the case.

BTW. Did I say, Ban it, shut it down and make it go away.

Opposed. I'm not the least bit interested in controlling what others think or believe.

I'm not a big fan of thoughtcrime. Regardless of how I might feel about others' beliefs, they're still free to hold them

On the other hand, if their beliefs lead them to commit malum in se criminal acts, that's another story.

From the plethora of threads on the evils of religion, some even acknowledged by a theist or two, I am amazed at the results of this post and the back-stepping that has taken place.

I will elaborate. I do not care if someone believes in a sky-daddy. The problem is two people then make a religion of it and start spreading it into what we all know and have seen or read about today and through out history.

It has no social redeeming factors whatsoever.

The poll was about religion and did not specify an individuals right to believe in fairies, Santa Clause or a sky-daddy.

Then let's make this thread evolve.

Should publicly celebrated religion be banned-i.e., whatever you worship in the privacy of your own home is fine, but don't bring it out in public and charge (er, ah, I mean tithe) people to support the building of bigger boxes with bad stick figures on top. Should holidays which are strictly religious in origin be exchanged for less specific ones?

Religion is fucked up, but if people can keep it in the privacy of their homes, I'm fine with it. When some jackass on the street walks up to me to ask whether I've been saved, and what will I do if I am wrong and end up in h-e-double toothpicks, I'm not fine with it.

I think Christmas is a stupid name. I love the family time, and the gift giving, and decorating the tree, and the sound of carolers, and the Charlie Brown special, but the only reason the name has significance to me is because I grew up associating it with these fun things. Had it been associated with some dead Jew hammered up on a lodge-pole who came back from the dead to haunt us, I would have wondered why we didn't do that for Halloween.

It is unlikely that we can shut it down, but we can remove all privileges. No tax breaks for the religions, no tax breaks for donations to religions.

Remove the money and we remove the power. No power, no control.
