That court isn't. The vast majority are still protected. You can still hand a kid a rattlesnake and a jar of poison. You can still deny a minor a blood transfusion, christian scientists can still "pray away" sickness just about everywhere else. That case became what it was because they had an actual epidemic of nastiness. They decided that the protections where no longer appropriate given what the religious were doing with them. So have I. Across the board. They have, in effect, banned a hugely important chunk of these peoples religions. In fact, it will be impossible to practice their faith openly now (without that fun bit they're just run of the mill christians, it's a defining piece of their denomination). No one is defending them?

Did the terrorists actually go out and hurt people?
Most churches don't send their minions out to do much more than shout shitty slogans, which just about anyone can do.

Er... so...the rulings when a child dies because of this shit called "child abuse" have absolutely no bearing on you?

Not entirely sure what you mean. I would like to see these sorts of rulings applied across the board in every instance but they are not currently, because the religious enjoy protections over and above what we irreligious folks enjoy. Without that protection, for example, it becomes impossible for some religions to be practiced. It's banning religion, without actually admitting that you've banned religion.
It isn't me that feels that the ruling on child abuse do not apply, it's the religious. I can't stress that enough. Our rules don't apply, they have a higher set.
Here, lets take an example close to heart. Are tarot cards a religion? Nope. Not in the way we use the word. I don't feel that we should be banning tarot cards. Now, if people started offing their children because the tarot cards said so. I'd be confiscating decks.

That is how they work. Make it seem harmless, goad, cajole, terrify the people into believing, keep them hooked through "charity," and then, when the numbers are right, agitate for more rights, more power. The missions don't do the good work, summer. Good people do, but if they do it in the name of a god, it'll go wrong at some point. It really is a quid pro quo when a god is involved.

Churches send out emissaries in poverty and disease stricken regions decrying birth control, condoms, education etc. So much for the pleasantries.
(guess who pays for those field trips? The nice lady we're defending because she's not a religious fucktard, she just attends church)
We do actually annihilate terrorist training camps before they ever have the opportunity to send out their graduates btw....I'm not talking handcuffs, I'm talking mortars and grenades, with assault rifles keeping their worthless little heads down. If it even gets to that point, sometimes we just execute them with UAVs. Only in my wildest and sickest dreams would I advocate such a thing towards religion as a whole. I'm talking about making it impossible for them to even begin to engage in anything even approximating the destructive shit they currently engage in by way of well thought out laws (which carry an appeals process, more than you get from them).

One word: guns.
I'd love to continue this conversation but I've been hopelessly distracted, and now two idiot friends of mine are making me drive two hours to have lunch with them because "they've come this far" into NC. (Nevermind that they didn't respond to requests for info until a half hour ago. That's the sort of thing that should be banned.)
I may as well also apologize - I love you both, but I'm afraid I *am*, as Rhythm calls me, a dishrag. I will always choose compassion first. I wouldn't apologize for it, except that I'm sorry it offends you.
When you're done knocking heads together and swinging swords, I'll still be here to kiss bruises.

Not to mention freedom of speech, association, and assembly. I value those rights for myself and would not deny them to others, no matter how offensive I find their beliefs.

A good reason to consider a re-think regarding "Religion / Organised Child prostitution crime syndicate "
