No, they don’t ‘both own part of it’. The cop who shot was not, and could not have reasonably believed, that he was in imminent danger of death or serious injury. Brooks was running away and was shot in the back. Twice.
It’s almost as if the cop was thinking, ‘Golly, if I don’t get that taser back, they’ll make me pay for it.’

The way I see it, they were just pissed he ran away with the taser. Like, anyone who has the nerve deserves to get shot in the back.

I think that if a cop pulled his taser or any other weapon on me I should be within my rights to shoot him dead on the spot. Isn't that a good use of stand your ground laws? Thew cops out here tend to approach while announcing from a distance in a non threatening pose. I had an entire conversation with a sheriff attempting to serve a warrant from half way up my drive. It's almost as if they know there are armed nuts in the woods and that no one is going to come and save them if they start shit, or something.
Maybe it's time the US took a hard, serious look at policing by consent, as opposed to policing by power.

If they shot him for any other reason besides imminent fear of serious bodily harm or death, then yes it is murder. I believe the federal statute is pretty clear on that.
