Are we becoming a masked society?
#11
RE: Are we becoming a masked society?
When we get visitors, paramedics and fire fighters, they are wearing high tech masks when they enter. The guy who brings the pharmacy meds doesn’t enter the building. The phlebotomist gets screened before entering and wears a mask during her visit.

I'm sure that you guys are doing your best, but it remains a fact that this has not stopped covid from gutting nursing homes. That is unlikely to get better if we stop doing those things that we're only doing on a spotty basis.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Our facility, as strange as it may seem, isn’t being spotty. Also, unlike some facilities, we’re not accepting C-19 positive residents.

You guys....I'm sure....are doing your best. Again, facilities with those precautions in place have been gutted by covid, not because of anything they did, but because the rest of us living in the world that your facility and every other facility also exists in, are demonstrably not.

This is not an argument about whether you are doing your job. A disease does not care whether or not you, personally, are doing your job. I'm completely certain that you are already aware of that.

Granted, we are susceptible due to the fact that you mentioned in relation to viruses not having the capacity to care.

Do you see how that ties directly into the OP Q, in that other people doing an even shittier job of caring than you or a disease - and even shittier than the job they're already doing, perhaps out of fears that our inadequate level of mask wearing is somehow unhealthy, might make the situation worse instead of better? Not just for your residents and within the walls of your home, but for everyone, everywhere?

Remember when we thought Howard Hughes' germ phobia was paranoid and Michael Jackson was a weirdo for running around with a surgical mask?

I guess they really were visionarys....

It absolutely befuddles me that anyone could be too selfsish to even wear a mask. With a 120,000 dead in the US alone it should be at least as criminal as driving intoxicated.

It would take a decade or more for drunk drivers to do that much damage. It's taken covid a half a year, and the worst may be yet to come.
