teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Church of England bishops 'refuse to back change to allow priests to marry same-sex couples' after Justin Welby admitted there are 'deep difference' in CoE on LGBT rights

Meeting of Church of England bishops said to have refused change in marriage

Priests will still no longer be allowed to marry same-sex couples, it is reported

Bishops said current teaching matrimony is between man and woman will stand

Had been hoped among LGBTQ+ community possible change would be voted on

Also, fun fact: In 2016, the people of Colombia voted on a resolution to potentially end hostilities between the government and guerilla groups. It narrowly failed, and it looks like one of the decisive factors involved Evangelical groups basically doing this.

Bergoglio is actually having a moment of compassion for the gays.

Quote:In an exclusive interview with the Associated Press, Pope Francis said that homosexuality should not be a crime and called upon all 67 countries that currently make being gay a crime to decriminalize. He urged bishops to have compassion for queer folks.

Francis acknowledged that Catholic bishops in some parts of the world support laws that criminalize homosexuality or discriminate against the LGBTQ community, and he himself referred to the issue in terms of “sin.” But he attributed such attitudes to cultural backgrounds, and said bishops in particular need to undergo a process of change to recognize the dignity of everyone.

So much for the pope being against laws that are discriminating against LGBTQ people when he can not even stop discrimination in Catholic schools

Gay teacher is FIRED from Catholic school after colleagues found photo of her kissing her girlfriend

The religious leaders - headed by Bishop Samuel J. Aquila - justified their actions, saying that all teachers are required to sign a contract ensuring that they will live their lives adhering to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

I find things like this so weird.  The principal of my high school was a brother (ie monk) who left the order to marry an ex-nun.  Recently I ran across his obituary...apparently, he was still quite active with the Church and with Catholic education in particular.  It would seem they wouldn't want someone who not only left his 'calling' but took a nun with him.

Quote:I disagree with what they say on their main sign. It should say there are two sexes. "Gender" is a term made up by certain people. But the rest of what they say is correct.
Nope, there are two sexes (for the most part) and multiple genders and gender is a real and legitimate thing. The rest of their signs are total nonsense devised by insane right-wing bigots.

Oh, and it's the Right That's Doomed.

Enjoy your brief time here troll.
