I just said you need to stop saying that. It isn’t true.

Which  is why out of all first world western nations we have the highest rate of firearm injuries/death and violence.

As long as America protects the bullshit mentality, vetting only amounts to "no record" in an instant check, we will continue be the top of the list.

And when did the US institute background checks for the purchase of candy?

Not to quibble, but...according to Brian there's no purchasing involved in either the acquisition of candy or guns.  They are just handed out all willy-nilly.

I'd think the reason that firearm injuries and deaths cost America so much is ease of access.

What, just the opposite. You don't get candy or guns for free. Don't be silly and imply I was implying guns are handed out for free. But they still are too easy to obtain.

With no record, most people can go into a guns shop, submit their info, and walk out minutes later. Nobody claimed they didn't have to pay for the fireram.

The high incidence of gun violence in the US has nothing to do with your claim that guns are made like candy and handed out like candy.

There is a middle ground here.  I was given many guns between 8 and 35.  A couple of them were chocolate.  I have yet to shoot anyone.

Uggggg......

It isn't a matter of intent. I fully accept there are plenty of folks whom own firearms who will not commit crimes. I am only addressing the conditions that have put America at the top of the list of first world western nations that have far more firearm violence than we should have.

I'd trust Gawdzilla with a firearm. I'd also trust my best friend from Oklahoma with a firearm. I am not talking about intent, but math and ratio and ease of access. Plenty of firearm owners agree, that their is a problem. The argument is how to fix it. I don't see the pace of manufacturing as helping. I don't see "walk in, same day, buying" as helping.

The problem with the NRA is their attitude is sell more and do nothing.

Yes, like the volume of CO2 humans increasingly pump out has nothing to do with global warming.

I didn't say anything about intent.  That would be presumptive and unverifiable.  I was simply stepping into a silly argument with a southerner's anecdote.

As I said earlier, I'm a results guy.  The results show, as to gun violence, what we have done up to now is not working.  We need to be open to possible solutions even if they lie outside our pet ideology or 2nd Amendment idolatry.

It has nothing to do with your claim, you fleyshkop, because your claim is false. Firearms in the US are not made and handed out like candy.

Are there too many firearms in the US? Yes. Are some of those in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them? Of course. Is it far too easy for these people to get their hands on firearms? Absolutely. Is this situation responsible for the high rate of gun violence in your country? No denying it.

Are guns made and handed out like candy? What a stupid thing to say.
