Is The NRA Going Bye-Bye?

RE: Is The NRA Going Bye-Bye?
....almost anyone for almost anything, except in this case it's the theft of millions of dollars. Juries do not look kindly at people who stole massive sums of cash from a public charity.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

You would think that NRA rank and file would want the possible theft of tens of millions of dollars of their donations to at least be investigated and punished by the people tasked with doing so. I mean, they donate that money for the NRA to buy more politicians for the purpose of enacting legislation to make it easier to shoot random people, not for the leadership to jet off to the Bahamas for a crab salad.

Quote:New York state's attorney general sued to dissolve the National Rifle Association on Thursday, alleging senior leaders of the non-profit group diverted millions of dollars for personal use and to buy the silence and loyalty of former employees.

The lawsuit filed in a Manhattan court by Attorney General Letitia James alleges NRA leaders paid for family trips to the Bahamas, private jets and expensive meals that contributed to a $64 million reduction in the NRA's balance sheet in three years, turning a surplus into a deficit.

And Trump responded with his usual ‘they’re coming for your guns’ nonsense.

At best the heads might get financially hurt or removed. But unfortunately the NRA is like Jason in Friday The 13th. And even if they did go bust, which I'd love to see. There would still be 5 million morons who who'd simply move over to other gun orgs like the NSSF.

I agree Boru, "They're coming for your guns" is nonsense. The left doesn't want 100% of firearms banned, but it still remains they are made like candy and handed out like candy.

The original NRA when it started out was a safety org. It wasn't a profit lobby. Back in the 70s Wayne turned it into a  corporate lobby.

No one who hasn’t done the research (and I decline to do it for them) will believe that Obama was more supportive of gun rights than Trump.

Despite the lip service he gives to them, Trump isn’t a fan of either the Second Amendment or the NRA. His tweets about them aren’t really anything much more than pandering to his base.

Guns in the US are not ‘handed out like candy’. You need to stop saying that.

Other than on Halloween, I don't even know anyone who hands out candy.

It is not illegal in Japan for a civilian to own a firearm. But the reason most don't own firearms is because they are not bat shit nuts about worshiping firearms. And their laws are like the difference between what Nadar faced the auto industry with, which the auto industry eventually adapted to, vs the auto industry saying "You hate freedom" when he faced them with how bad their products were not regulated.

New Zealand gets firearm laws right. Australia gets firearm laws right. None of them ban firearms. America makes them like candy and hands them out like candy.

I just said you need to stop saying that. It isn’t true.

Which  is why out of all first world western nations we have the highest rate of firearm injuries/death and violence.

As long as America protects the bullshit mentality, vetting only amounts to "no record" in an instant check, we will continue be the top of the list.

Wayne LaPierre is no more "The NRA" than Senator Clinton is "The Democratic Party".

Taking legal action against one person (or persons) in charge is not indicatve of the group as a whole.

That's part of the goatfuck factor here - that's what these shysters are trying to do - blame everybody in the NRA.

The ethical thing to do is go after those guilt of something - not the whole group.

And - there will likely be.one motherfucker on the jury - like me - who feels that way.....

So - good luck with making the NRA go "bye bye"...
