There is no justice...... RBG RIP!

RE: There is no justice...... RBG RIP!
Just read that two Republican senators are opposed to any action on a new Justice until after the election. Big fucking deal. If they were opposed it it until after the inauguration, it might mean something.

Yep, and I agree. Just saying, "Wait until after November 3rd" is meaningless. It would still give Trump almost two months to fuck things up regardless.

I think what they are doing is hedging their bets in case of a loss to keep their seats.

their good intention can be tested by whether they support the passage of a trump nominated justice after trump lost the election and is therefore contesting the result, or “democrats stole the election” in Fox and trumpian parlance.

Does anyone thing there is any non-negative probability that their good intentions will pass the test?

Lindsey and Collins have multiple times said one thing but back peddled.

of course.   They would most be certain to eat it to prevent their orange haired master’s most outrageously extreme command from falling flat for the want of one critical vote,  as we saw during the Bret Cavanaugh confirmation,  but they would like to have it too as circumstances permit by appearing to be more moderate, but only when their presenting such appearances would not crimp the shit gibbon’s style.

I regret that I'm from Kentucky and there's no point in my calling either of my jackass senators. They're both a lost cause.

There is an obvious way to stop Trump from appointing a justice: Impeach him. Impeachment hearings are the one thing which takes precedence over confirmation of a justice. There is no limit to how many times a president can be impeached and he has considerately provided Democrats with bucket loads of impeachable offenses.

This would obviously be a dirty trick by the Democrats but so what? The Republicans themselves firmly established a precedent for not confirming a justice in an election year. IMO, the Dems will be fools if they don't use whatever means are at their disposal to foil the Republicans in their bid for naked hypocrisy.

I would rather expand the court and pack the court with more justices selected during a democratic administration.     Not because it does more, but because it is more drastic.   Drastic action has an additional impact merely for being drastic.   To win against the republicans one must make it clear there is no length democrats won’t go to not only to offset unfair republican gains, but to take away what one might evenhanded consider to be something republicans as an political party in civil society is  entitled to, if they pull stunts like stealing a Supreme Court seat as they did in 2016, or put a trump like character in office and fail to meaningfully oppose him..

If the country’s politics were to recover, Then it must Be made clear To every political creature and every creature who seeks to advance his own interest through influencing the country’s politics, they there is absolutely no limit to the down side, politically as well as personally, none whatsoever, if a party he belongs to, or a party he is trying to influence, were to try to capitalize on the any illusion of an upside in all the types of stunts  republicans have pulled since 1994, starting from Impeaching clinton, stealing 2000 election, down to frustrating the impeachment of trump.

This is political total war. The other side would not leave any tools of total war unused. You will cripple yourself and you will lose, if you would.  You would also encourage the other side to use their worst tools more ruthlessly if your response is predictably more restrained than their transgression.

The other side is A bunch of ruthless war criminals  fighting a total war for total gain. The other side is seeking to install ignoramus demagogue as the dictator behind which the influences of casino magnate, raiders, and the fascists who seek to rally racist malcontents can prosper.  You are still playing a game and worrying what the referee, long since dead and moldering in the grave, Would say if you’re impolite

Well I know what my focus will be if the Dems do not act in some way when they clearly have the power to do so: Primary the fuckers!

I will vote against any of my House Reps or Senators in their next primary elections who vote to wimp-out and do nothing against this Repugnican assault.

To rely on the fortitude of the politician for great causes is to rely on the spines of worms.

How reliably you politician will do the right thing depends on how Strong, ruthless, single minded and disciplined is the voting block advocating for the right thing.  How strong, ruthless. single minded and disciplined the voting block is depends on how many disparate groups with different pet priorities can be whipped into a discipline troop That subordinates pet priorities to ruthless pursuit of power that must come first before any pet priorities.

The non-GOP constituencies broadly continues the buck passing attitude of picking and choosing multitudes of pet causes and thinking in democracy the power belongs to the Voting individual.    No. Nothing in Democratic politics has ever been nor will ever bee farther from the truth,    The power belongs to the disciplined voting block in which the individual voter is subordinated To the collective priority of the block, and the block is ruthlessly strategic in gaining power as precondition to any policy objectives.

Form the ruthlessly disciplined voting block, set policy priorities most consistent to putting you in power, votes in ruthlessly strategic ways To gain that power, and you will win.  Do something else, and you will lose.   It is that simple.

You opponent knows this, when will you learn?

The so called democratic system is really one whose dynamics is as rigid as laws of physics, but you are pretending if you play by dungeons and dragons rules then the real laws of physics will adapt to suit you.

Power first, then principle, can get you some element of the principle.   Principle first will get you nothing, not even the principle.
