You assume too much. There are plenty that have for years expended enormous effort in bible study and a whole-hearted desire to understand and form a relationship with 'God.' Sometimes it may have taken a while, but the end result was not to be held in thrall to the mystic by finding the whole issue wanting. You have absolutely no idea what effort 'most' have put in. I find your crass argument wanting.
To be fair, I've never put in the effort to 'find God', because it was never particularly important to me. I've also never put in the effort to learn to ride a unicycle, learn Finnish, or become a ventriloquist.
