Bummer.
But a casual look at a few geology maps would give a reasonably good idea of where not to live if you are allergic to earthquakes, but still we complain.
Any suggestions gratefully accepted
If you live a few hundred miles away from any tectonic plate boundaries your chances of being struck by any earthquakes decline exponentially. Any earthquake activity that do happen here tends to happen at one of the few locations where a triple point happened sometime in the distant geological past, where those are is also easy to find on a map. Where there are no active tectonic plates there tends to be subdued topography and land slides also tend to be rare. If you don't like forest fires don't live near forests. If you don't like floods don't live in flood plains. Most of the world's tornados happen in the American midwest, so if you live away from the American Midwest you are relatively safe from tornados. Hurricans does the most damage near the coast. Live away from coast and hurricanes become much les dangerous. Living away from the coast also brings the benefit of keeping you safe from distant earthquakes brought to you via tsunamis.
So to sum up: Don't live in New Zealand, New Zealand exists because of tectonic plate boundary. Live in Australia, Australia hasn't had a tectonic plate boundary near it for 100 million years. As a consequence of being totally tectonically boring, Australia has boring topography relatively unsusceptible to land slides. Also as a result of being tectonically boring for so long Australia's soil is more depleted then usual and large forests don't take and massive forest fires are rare. In Australia live away from the shore and behind the barrier reef so distant earthquakes can reach out and touch you via tsunami. Don't love too close to a river, don't live near where there are fuel for wild fire.

Most of the Canadian shield is about as tectonically quiet as it gets.

Thankyou chuckie!
I will remember to tell the people of Newcastle that the Hunter-Mookie thrust that gives them earthquakes periodicall is all in their imagination. Not to mention the various other places in Victoria and Western Australia that experience earthquakes.
Stupidity and greed make people choose to live right in the middle of a Fire-Hazard trap with only one road out not river is needed chuckie; just a ridge top with a million dollar view across the valley is enough to get you killed and your property burnt to the ground. 10 years of drought will also help in this area. Don't know why the government of Oz is sending all the refugees from Christmas Island out to Northam where there is no water and plenty of earth quakes...weird that.

I never said there are any place on earth that's completely free from the posibility of modreate earthquakes. But frequent large earth quakes do tend to be concentrated within a few hundred miles of active plate boundaries, volcanic hot spots, or near known past triple junction points.

This is a general fact chuckie. The tenor of your post suggested that there were "safe spots" on the planet.
On a curious note ..there were those 6.8 quakes in New Zealand and the whole of the pacific rim was active including bumfuck nowhere Western Australia....go figure 4000km plus from the epicentre

Actually, there are a few places that pose very little risk of a serious Earthquake. As I pointed out earlier, the Canadian shield is one such place, as are most of the continental shields. They are very old, situated in the core of the continents, and are seismically very quiet. I'm a geologist, so I know a bit about these things.

I've had 4,000 aftershocks in the last 5 months, can you beat that?

A heads-up for you guys:
Ken Ring says you should be wary of earthquakes during the week before and the week after a full moon, and the week before and after a new moon; i.e ALL THE FUCKING TIME.
This guy is completely credible, his ideas don't contradict basic physics and the moon definitely causes earthquakes.
