Looking at the events, one thing I recently discovered: If Washington DC was its own state, things might have been a Hell of a lot shorter. Since it's its own unique city and technically not part of any state, therefore, the DC National Guard can only be deployed on the say-so of the Department of Defense, which is subordinate to the President. This might not have been so bad in literally any other administration, but, bear in mind, Trump is the sort of President who's willing to unleash them on a crowd of peaceful protesters just for the sake of a photo op, but, when people are rioting in the Capitol, it takes three hours for them to be deployed, and it allegedly had to be Pence who finally gave the order.

Seriously, if not for his advocating the $2000 stimulus checks days before the GA run off and his "Don't vote for republicans who aren't loyal enough to me" comments, Trump could very easily be the reason McConnell isn't going to be the majority leader in the senate anymore. And he knows it. Not to mention, these are the Republican president's supporters who rioted and stormed the capitol and he has to play damage control for his party. If the GOP has to pay for this in the next few elections, he'll probably never live to see another republican majority. Anyway, am I the only one here who's more than a little scared what's going to happen tomorrow? I know Biden is going to limit the size of his inauguration because of covid, but there are still going to be a lot of angry, unstable, well-armed Trumpanzees out there and, apparently, there are a lot of cops on their side. Some of the lunatics have military backgrounds. What do you think a well trained sniper could do? Not just tomorrow, but for the next several months, Biden is going to have a bullseye on his back because of some very unstable people.
