Nope, he can choose neither side and agree on the legal status of abortion is open to debate while ackowledge both sides have valid points. Or he could choose to side with neither and argue it's a matter for the courts to decide. I don't what he will do but those options are open.

Still waiting on an answer as to whether he believes that there's a lack of deference to the wingnut perspective on abortion. If there isn;'t, and if Joe is very much willing to defer in this or that respect to that perspective - as our entire society and legal structure around the issue already does-then it isn't a lie at all to say that the tent is large and joe will represent both sides of an issue..even if we wish it were. Even if we wish that we could finally just laugh in these assholes faces and disregard them.

It may be true that all politicians lie, but assuming so - this doesn't appear to be one of those cases. Yes, the us will negotiate over the articles of christian white separatism and represent the christian white separatists. We've never done otherwise. Perhaps another example would be a better example to make the point that all politicians lie.
