(December 21, 2021 at 6:19 pm)HappySkeptic Wrote: It sounds like this article was a criticism of one company and its shoddy clinical trial practices in general, and is not specifically a claim that the Covid trials are invalid.  However, it implies such a thing, and will thereby be used by anti-vaxers as "proof" that the Pfizer vaccine was never properly tested.  After reading the article, the breaches of protocol likely wouldn't have a huge impact on the results of something like COVID.  It isn't like the subconscious signals from a nurse who saw unmasked data is going to stop someone coughing their lungs out from COVID, or stop them from dying of a complication.

Here's the thing about science -- one really good trial can be definitive, but the problem with a single trial is that scientists don't actually have direct access to the protocols and procedures actually done.  They only have access to what is "claimed" to be have been done.  Scientists often take the reputation of the team into account, as well as the data.

Trials are best done by separate independent teams, in separate countries, as has been done for the COVID vaccines.

The FDA is nothing more than a rubber stamp.  They have no ability to police bad science.  Likewise, the FAA is also a rubber stamp, and can't police bad Boeing airplane software.

The science/scientists will work things out. I'm more concerned about Meta's "fact checking" policies and abilities. Based on this instance it sounds like more lip service than sincere effort.

TPUSA's Charlie Kirk has decided that kyle rittenhouse is like jesus just in time for christmas, falsely accused...which is a strange flex, since both men were guilty of what they were accused of. Jesus, so were told, absolutely claimed to be a god on earth...and kyle certainly killed those people. A jury of the faithful decided that the former should die, and the latter should live.

Of course, if you think the Jesus Seminar has any merit, Jesus was actually crucified for being a public nuisance, and with outbursts like this, it’s no wonder the Romans would have nailed him to a cross.

And it’s not like any of the Evangelists have ever denied this incident took place. Indeed, it’s one of only a few actions represented in all four Gospels (unless you count the version in John as a separate event).

So, no matter how you look at it, he’s still guilty.

It’s also telling that these “Christians” have apparently decided these far-right figures that would no doubt have been criticized to Hell and back by Jesus if he had known them have been elevated to a status that’s about on par with Jesus.

Yeah. Jesus is kind of a jerk in this. I mean, he didn't drive anyone out with a whip or anything, but still.

And wasn't the destruction of the temple much later? What is this "three days" shit? Also, I like how Jesus oscillates between bringing a "new law" and "not changing a jot or tittle."

"I come with a sword." -- "Blessed are the peacemakers." All this in between cursing fig trees for not being in season and making pigs suicidal during his downtime. I need more LSD to understand the Gospels.

And the funny thing is Last Temptation actually pointed out this would probably have ended up happening anyway:

And before you talk shit about Harry Dean Stanton's Paul, I should point out that Paul of Tarsus was supposedly a shit orator IRL, so that's why it sounds so stilted.

How Dark Money Bought A Supreme Court Seat

While Justice Amy Barrett feigned ignorance of dark money, new documents show that cash bankrolled her Supreme Court nomination.

A conservative dark money group led by former President Donald Trump’s judicial adviser Leonard Leo bankrolled Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court confirmation campaign with nearly $22 million in anonymous cash, while another nonprofit that Leo helps steer saw a fundraising bonanza and showered cash on other organizations boosting Barrett, according to tax returns obtained by The Daily Poster.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Two Georgia election workers who were the target of vote-rigging conspiracy theories have sued the far-right One America News Network, its top executives, and former President Donald Trump's ex-lawyer Rudy Giuliani for allegedly spreading lies about them.

The defamation lawsuit was filed on Thursday in federal court in Washington, D.C., by Wandrea "Shaye" Moss, a voter registration officer in Fulton County, and her mother, Ruby Freeman, who was a temp worker for the 2020 election.
