What did you learn to do because of the pandemic?

RE: What did you learn to do because of the pandemic?
I built a 24'x9.5' deck.  I began using a different PCB design platform.  I refused to learn another programming language.  I got better at catching smallmouth bass.  I adapted Elton John's piano on Funeral for a Friend for guitar.  I learned Elliot Randall's solos on Reeling in the Years.  I arranged an upbeat, jazzy version of Eric Carmen's All By Myself.  I think the last three are the real reason my neighbors moved to swampy Louisiana.

I have twice now attempted grooming my three dogs.  I had always been the one to bathe them but I bought a grooming table and clippers and have done a passable job though some areas need refining.  This wasn't totally due to the pandemic as our groomer was incapacitated due to an auto accident.

I started shopping for groceries online.  There have been a couple hiccups along the way but overall I like it and will probably continue grocery shopping this way as I always saw it as a hated chore.

So far, I am not desperate enough to try to cut my own hair.  I have had my hair cut once since the December before all this started.  Luckily, I am used to my hair being long...it's just a little ragged and could use a professional trim.

Sewing masks led to making quilts and now I am making quilted placemats.  But that's more a hobby than a necessity.

What have you done?  What did you start doing because you were home anyway and had the time?

I learned that approximately half of Americans are scientifically illiterate morons.

And that is just the half that can be taught.

I've learned some new shit on the guitar.
I've learned living in a foreign county has a lot of unexpected challenges.
It also has a lot of rewards.
I leaned a bit of Spanish.
I've learned proper pronunciation matters.
I've learned that I'd like to retire, sooner rather than later.
I've learned that the love between myself and my spouse is unshakable.

I still stick by my original answer.

That when it comes to staff, "essential" isn't the same as "important".

I should clarify this.

I mean essential staff who had to work but were treated like shit by management, other staff, and patients/customers.
Dying to live, living to die.

Float through the air, with the greatest of ease.

Also, humans are far more dumb than they are given credit for.

I learned to work myself to death, doing the job of several aides due to staff shortages, since I worked through the entire lockdown. (The reason I recently gave my two weeks notice)

I learned that there are hypocritical anti vaxxers, whom don't know the history of mandated vaccines, which we have had forever.

Kids for example, forever, have had to get vaccines to attend public schools forever.

Actually vaccines have been required in some public schools in the US for a little over 200 years.  Not quite forever, not even close to forever.  But thanks for playing.
