I built a 24'x9.5' deck. I began using a different PCB design platform. I refused to learn another programming language. I got better at catching smallmouth bass. I adapted Elton John's piano on Funeral for a Friend for guitar. I learned Elliot Randall's solos on Reeling in the Years. I arranged an upbeat, jazzy version of Eric Carmen's All By Myself. I think the last three are the real reason my neighbors moved to swampy Louisiana.

I've learned some new shit on the guitar.
I've learned living in a foreign county has a lot of unexpected challenges. It also has a lot of rewards. I leaned a bit of Spanish. I've learned proper pronunciation matters. I've learned that I'd like to retire, sooner rather than later. I've learned that the love between myself and my spouse is unshakable. I still stick by my original answer. That when it comes to staff, "essential" isn't the same as "important".
I should clarify this. I mean essential staff who had to work but were treated like shit by management, other staff, and patients/customers. Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???"

I learned to work myself to death, doing the job of several aides due to staff shortages, since I worked through the entire lockdown. (The reason I recently gave my two weeks notice)
I learned that there are hypocritical anti vaxxers, whom don't know the history of mandated vaccines, which we have had forever.
Kids for example, forever, have had to get vaccines to attend public schools forever. Actually vaccines have been required in some public schools in the US for a little over 200 years. Not quite forever, not even close to forever. But thanks for playing. |
