Jesus and Mary, In Catholicism and Islam
#21
RE: Jesus and Mary, In Catholicism and Islam
Well, that being the case, again the people who came up with these myths were historically marginalized at the time of their creation. They were weak, not mighty.

It was an end run around your moral sensibilities, apparently. They're similarly weak today, thus the push to theocratic fascism. Though not quite at their perigee...they've fallen far off the apogeee such myths helped them to create in the past which are no longer the organizing principles of our society.

With all that in mind, would I be justified by your own moral apprehensions to disregard your thoughts on a given matter for their weakness? Additionally, what kind of impression does the belief that might makes right leave you with when considering the lowly circumstances of christs birth and his assertions that the meek will inherit the earth?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

At any rate, is might making right something that you think is true, something that you think gods think is true...?
I genuinely believe in the "might makes right" axiom. I would consider myself a very strong person, and I believe my strength entitles me to be righteously indignant towards whatever challenges me. I have earned the right to be right, so to speak.

So if someone comes along and beats you senseless and steals all your stuff, are they right?

Not only has he argued that might makes right, on my question (see above) why he believes what he believes he answered with "his upbringing".
He also said that its impossible for his god to prove himself to us
Iirc he also was the one who said that we (atheists) are asking for evidence (for a god) where we shouldnt.

This is so mindbogglingly stupid and inconsistent that he either cant tie his shoes without help, or:

I meant inner strength.

Here again, inner strength really isn't a component of the abrahamic trajectory.  The prophets commentary makes it plainly apparent that the jewish people were broken, lost, had abandoned their responsibilities in the eyes of the authors and of god.  The christians insist that they are fallen and slave to sin and death - and..ofc, the term muslim refers to submission.

It really would be interesting to see how a person who believes in the rightness of mightiness, or even inner strength, would come to believe in any religion of human weakness worshipping a god making promises exclusively to the dispossessed.  Don't you think?

You could do that - but if you have a novel definition of might makes right that doesn't actually refer to might making right...and you tell people that you believe might makes right....the manner you've chosen to define the axiom is plain and simply wrong.

What is words, even? See - weakness. Therefore unrightness? No inner strength, therefore wrongness?
