A really good friend will MAKE you laugh at a funeral.

If you can't laugh at a funeral, where *can* you laugh?

A true friend will provide you with an alibi so you can attend the funeral.

In the last couple years of reading news online I have wondered when the jobs of editor and proofreader were done away with.

The other newspapers picked up the Grauniad method. The Manchester Guardian was notorious for never employing subbies.

When one of my grandparents died, we were literally drafting extended family to sit at the funeral home.  Including us kids though that was an unusual thing where I lived as most families were much larger than ours.

One of dad's cousins was there with us.  He was an old bachelor that had taken over his parents' ramshackle farm.  Nice fella but not a fan of personal hygiene.

At one point my mother said this and one of my aunts and I nearly choked - 'It won't be long before John F. doesn't need a hairbrush or a toothbrush'.

That aunt, much more religious than we ever were, was both amused and appalled.

When we went to the funeral home to consult the director for the specifics of mom' s funeral - he asked if there was a specific piece of music mom would have liked to be played....

I said "Amazing Grace - played on a kazoo would work"....

I got my sense of humor from her....

She really WOULD have liked it....

At the funeral for one of my uncles (dad’s side), the music was ‘Yakkity Sax’. Live.
