My view has been pretty much always been that the author of Revelations may have been suffering from ergot poisoning. Or possibly magic mushrooms.

Who is the EEC? What time period?

I guess the author wanted to write in parables bc Jesus is suppose to talk in parables. He is just following in the footsteps of Jesus.
I'm not even sure parables is the right word. There is some symbolism in Revelation.
There was something about 7 candlesticks, representing the different christian sects.
The author is upset about one of them.

There was something about a giant woman giving birth. I don't know if that is suppose to be symbolism.


I've had a few christians tell me that we are in the end of times and that Revelation is talking about today but none of them can tell me
THIS LINE refers to THIS EVENT of today.
THAT LINE refers to THAT EVENT of tomorrow.

They might be reading out of their local paper alone..content in the knowledge that the end times perfectly describes the current events of their rural american zipcode. It seem that there is quite a lot of them in the USA. They seem to have priests there who have been playing the end of times there for decades.
In fact, some of the United States sects are founded on the notion of end times, such as the Bible Students group, which was later renamed to Jehovah's witnesses.
They call them milleniarists or something like that.
Maybe the word “milleniarist” has to do with the year 1000 when a lot of christians were convinced it was the end.

It’s fucked up to live like that for generations.

More like real estate speculators and politicians than priests.  The witnesses and the mormons both came out of the burned over district, where any number of scams found their marks in the religiously gullible.   The textbook example being to acquire allegedly worthless but productive bottomland from their anxious flock in return for safer (but -actually- worthless) ridgetop land...you know.... to escape the coming flood.

You'd think that would only work one time, but you'd be wrong. End times superstition remains a profit center to this day. The people telling our contemporary dolts that the local school board are the horns of the beast are, to a man, selling something. Picking him was an issue of managing their image after the last fuck up and with the demographics of catholic faith in mind..but the whole thing is so rotten that the best and nicest Buddy Pope From The Americas they could find was still implicated in a military fucking junta and their death lists.
