They probably are - but I'm smart too..and I still dig holes with a shovel. Sure...sure...I'd like to dig holes with my mini x - but I gave the keys up over a decade ago. Russia is in a similar situation. They may have inherited the surplus of the soviet empire but they had to make hard choices about what they're were going to continue to feed. They opted for large quantities of subpar gear and gutted their modernized projects. That's how they paid the bills - and - ultimately, that's what we're seeing in ukraine. The limits of their funding strategy going back to the 90's with respect to their territorial ambitions.

They can be as smart as they want riding around in coffins. Just as they can be as smart as they want trying to fire defective firecrackers labeled as artillery shells. The best scenario right now for russia is that all of those vehicles only had drivers in them...which is it's own kind of horrific news, if so. It's yet another vulhedar.

We can wonder whether russia is so stupid they don't know any better by now, or we can consider that they do, but can't do anything about it. They're in the kind of situation where you have to beg NK for ammo.
