Russia and Ukraine
RE: Russia and Ukraine
Emanuel Macron is reiterating his point of view that it might be necessary at some point to send European ground troops to Ukraine:

Mr. Macron has always been very diplomatic with everyone. When Trump was elected in 2015, he was the one who tried to reach out to him by saying that “he admired him”. Two years ago he was also the one that said that “Putin was not to be humiliated”.

Now he seems very angry with Putin too. Indeed: The killing of Alexei Navalny seems to have shown to many of us who were still skeptical on what the Russian regime has now turned into at its very core Sad

To me this means that Russia was involved in some degree in attacks that happened in October seventh. (Russia has too much presence in places like Syria and Lebanon and has close ties with Iran as well. So they wouldn’t risk angering Russians if they were not sure of this)  Cool

More likely somebody in Netenyahu's regime is cottoning on to how bad their recreation of the Warsaw ghetto is looking.

PS Marcron's trying to play the big swinging dick for a domestic audience as he's in big trouble politically, especially after his "lets out-fascist Le Pen" stunts didn't work out.

Senior Russian officer warns Ukraine conflict could escalate into full-scale war in Europe

Colonel-General Vladimir Zarudnitsky has warned that the conflict in Ukraine could escalate into a full-scale war in Europe and said the probability of Moscow's forces becoming involved in a new conflict is increasing "significantly."

"The main source of military threats to our state is the anti-Russian policy of the United States and its allies, who are conducting a new type of hybrid warfare in order to weaken Russia in every possible way, limit its sovereignty and destroy its territorial integrity," he was quoted as saying.

"The likelihood of our state being purposefully drawn into new military conflicts is significantly increasing."

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Sure thing ... once you've recovered from the current unfolding disaster.

RE: Russia and Ukraine
I think Europeans are carefully evaluating every possibility. Right now Germany hesitates on giving Taurus missiles to Ukraine (Which have the capacity of going 300 kilometer inside Russian territory and even hit targets that are buried underground). They were also hesitating before giving Leopard tanks and F-16’s. This shows that they are definitely not reckless.

On the words of Emmanuel Macron: I think there are already western units stationed in Ukraine who are either training Ukrainians and/or are helping them in the operation of the latest weapons like British Storm Shadow missiles. So Macron has simply named it.

Still, there can be no NATO troops in Ukraine. Because if even one of them dies, this could mean a nuclear war. Sad

500+ companies have gone bankrupt in Russia since the starting of the war. The economy is really not as resilient as Putin would want his electoral basis to believe:

There were 642 total filings in 2023, significantly above the previous two years and marginally more than in 2020, which saw a flurry of COVID-19 pandemic-related filings. Although investors expect the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates as early as March, companies will still have to contend with relatively high interest rates and robust wage growth in the near term.

A major human trafficking network has been exposed in India for sending people to the war in Ukraine on the Russian side

The criminals offered Indian students a discount to study at private universities in Russia with free or preferential visa extensions.

But upon arrival in Russia, the Indians were stripped of their passports and sent for military training and then sent to war against their will.

No one wants a full-scale European war. Least of all Russia. Zarudnitsky thinks the US is trying to weaken Russia. He's very probably right, but how weak does he think Russia's going to be if they have to face the full weight of 32 NATO members?

The bit I love is that they expect everyone to take this as some sort of a threat, when they barely have the resources and manpower to prosecute their current war.

Compare the lives and treasure they’ve expended to tenuously hold on to less than 20% of Ukraine with what it would cost them to invade, say, Poland. The mind wobbles.
