Russia and Ukraine
RE: Russia and Ukraine
That reliance on ancient equipment is exactly the thing goosing their loss numbers. It's a vicious (or virtuous) cycle. The more they lean on outdated and broken equipment the less capable they will be of standing up new units.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. That would be 22bn€ for Germany. Most EU countries will not WANT that.

We kind of went through that during the '80s when Reagan was spouting the same ****.
That's why we have indepenmdent launch capabilities. If push comes to shove Moscow will glow in the dark.
Washington kind of has no options when that happens.

So no matter what happens Putin is still a butcher and a person that has to be stopped.

There are going to be some talks tomorrow. The UK has left the EUropean Union. France has a government crisis and there will be elections in Germany. But we will see if Europeans can create some sort of united front (with the leadership of Poland) against the US. It’s not that anything Trump said is really going to happen, but there might be a window of opportunity here with the US getting the parties to a cease fire, then European troops moving into Ukraine as peacekeepers (of course with US troops having their back from a distance in case things go ugly).

But if I am reading this right Trump want to withdraw some 20,000 troops from Europe too.

Also: Most NATO members will not spend 5% of their budget on their military. For most countries it will be more like 3/3,5 %. That’s still not bad and many see it as something that needed to happen.

Also: Trump is trying to rebalance the trade deficit of the US. His supporters say that they are promoting a system with more balanced trade relations between different countries. That’s not all-bad either.

So I am not expecting an Afghanistan-like disaster in Ukraine but things are still shifting and that doesn’t have to be all negative. The only reason why this might not work would be Putin himself. Putin clearly does not want peace. But will he settle to something he can sell to his propaganda machine as some sort of victory? – We simply don’t know.

Another important issue is that Donald Trump has greater chances of handling this situation than Mr. Joe Biden or even Kamala Harris Smile

United front against USA with Poland as it leader? Dog almighty Lenin rising from mausoleum and building communism is far more likely than US most obedient vassal ever leading "rebellion" against its master. Nothing more than letter from some US clown was needed for Poland to say that it will ignore ICJ verdict and pm is asking some billionaire for help in ruling in clownish copy of musk and trump.

Only chance trump have is chance to fellate putler as it does not look like like he will demand putler to get the fuck out of Ukraine.

- Today Zelensky said that there needed to be a European Armed Forces from now on.
+ Europeans do not disagree with Trump’s 5% of budget on military idea either. In fact I think there are now going to be steps toward more cohesion between the national armies of different European Nations.
Today’s World order dates back to WWII. With the cold war being over and the era of optimistic globalization after that being also over Americans are not entirely wrong when they say “Deal with your own issues here and let me focus more on Asia”.

The only issue (for now) about Trump that is really revolting me is his cancelation of US Aid.

- Everyone is trying to make sense of D. Trump’s dance with Elon Musk and the likes of Elon Musk. Here again: Europe is very important for the US in this area because they are the ones who are successfully creating rules against these big tech companies becoming too powerful and undermining our shared democratic values.

So I’m mainly trying to remain optimistic here. We still have 4 years of D. Trump presidency ahead of us. So I’m just trying to elaborate some sort of road map on how we are going to go through these four years without losing our very sanity Smile Smile

I doubt it. In 2023 only 3 countries were over 5% Somehow I don't see it changing to great extent.

I doubt it very much. Most European countries have a long, proud tradition of hating and mistrusting all the other ones. Even in the face of Russian aggression, that’s a history not easily tossed aside.

You've been screaming that Trump's a fascist since the election last November, what has he done since taking office last month that defines him as a fascist?  Has he outlawed and/or taken control of the media yet? Does he have control of the newspapers? Has he begun mandatory military conscription yet?

Seriously, going through the government's books and cutting spending on things that don't benefit this country's own citizens? The huge amounts of waste and corruption in our government are being exposed by Musk, and it's much worse than we could have thought it would be.

America first isn't just a phrase, it should be at the forefront of everything that our government does. If you hate this country of ours, why don't you just leave? Mexico or Canada are just a road trip away.

Remind me, who thinks the us is a shithole and that everyone is laughing at us? Anywho, if you've found some of the waste that musk is looking for you should tell musk about it.

I do agree that america is more than just a phrase, but that's the whole ballgame. Vance has told us that america is not an idea. That it's a people with a shared history and a common future. A homeland. The textbook definition of the difference betwen civic and ethnic nationalism. It's this ideological agreement between maga and russian nationalism that informs the regimes viewpoint on ukraine. Donny tells us the russians spent alot of blood and treasure invading ukraine so they should get to keep it. Even if there weren't so much money to be made in bribes they'd still be in the tank for their fellow fascists.

Neither of the people you addressed live in the US.  And the pillaging Felon Musk is doing is going to cost the US dearly, in the future. His saying these jobs are needless is a figment of his fevered imagination.

The following are the generally accepted features of fascism. Tell me which ones Trump doesn’t hit:

 3. "Identification of enemies/scapegoats as a unifying cause"

 4. "The supremacy of the military/avid militarism"

 5. "Rampant sexism"

 6. "A controlled mass media"

 7. "Obsession with national security"

 8. "Religion and ruling elite tied together”

 9. "Power of corporations protected"

 10. "Power of labor suppressed or eliminated”

 11. "Disdain and suppression of intellectuals and the arts"

 12. "Obsession with crime and punishment"

Fascism...

"extreme nationalism, militarism, and the placement of national interests above those of the individual."

Hmmm...I am always cynical of patriotism, but I fear and revile nationalism...and totalitarianism, which is never far behind...
