Good job convincing the forum.

I think this sums it up better

If I'm interpreting the conflicting reports I've been reading correctly, Musk and Trump are threatening to cut off Ukraine's access to StarLink if they don't agree to their "peace" plan and agree to giving the US their rare earth elements.
Which, of course, Ukraine depends on to defend itself from Russia.
So, Poland has taken over paying for Ukraine's access to the system.

That was already the status quo. Poland has been contributing the lions share of the thing that elon charged the us government for...and then actively failed to provide.

Quote:Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) said on Sunday that forcing Ukraine to agree to a resource deal with the U.S., in exchange for the possibility of support against Russia, is akin to “victim extortion.”
The moderate Republican said Russian President Vladimir Putin, who launched the invasion of Ukraine three years ago, should be the one forced to pay.
“Putin, and Putin alone, should bear the economic costs of Putin’s illegal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine,” Fitzpatrick said in a post on X.
“To force Ukraine to pay these costs is the epitome of victim-blaming and victim extortion.”
[...]
Fitzpatrick — one of three House Republicans elected in districts that Vice President Harris won in the 2024 election — said earlier this week that Zelensky must not be forced to accept a deal that is struck by another country and that falls short of his demands.
“President Volodymyr Zelenskyy need not, and must not, have any deal forced upon him by any outside nation that does not guarantee the security and the sovereignty of the Ukrainian people,” Fitzpatrick wrote in a statement on social platform X.

Good well-documented summary here of why the US wanted this proxy war.

Quote:At the United Nations General Assembly on Monday, the U.S. voted against condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The U.S. chargé d'affaires ad interim, Dorothy Shea, said the resolution only perpetuated "a war of words rather than an end to the war."
The vote places the U.S. in unusual company, as it sided with North Korea, Iran and 15 other countries against a Europe-backed Ukrainian resolution. China, along with 64 other countries, abstained.

One can only hope these are mere bargaining tactics. Given Trump's history, I think that's a slim hope.
