Friday's debacle is going to be remembered as a turning point in U.S. foreign relations. This is a 1-2 punch of tariffs and siding with our enemies. The U.S. is too unpredictable to be a reliable ally.

I don't think there is any way to fully recover. Sure, another administration can try to turn things around (if Trump doesn't declare himself leader for life), but the world will remember that 50% of the U.S. public wants what Trump is dishing out. They won't risk their countries economies or security on the results of the next election.

China is the big winner here. I don't know if Putin is yet, because I'm not sure Putin's regime can survive post-war (at least without Trump giving him a lifeline).

Everything Trump has done seems to be preceded by "will this action help or hinder the American national interest?", and if it hinders it, it's given the okay. That goes for international or domestic decisions.

It's clear to anyone with 17 functioning neurons that Trump has second-lined the national interest.

Probably not, but they will always want more. Or, at least, to control more.

Besides: If there were so enormous amounts of rare earths in Ukraine, why is it that no one even explored them since the Soviet era?

Apparently, the survey in that area was done between the 1960's and 80's... and, by the late 80's, it was obvious that the USSR couldn't continue, so they couldn't explore anything.

No Putin wants to expand and restore as much of the Soviet Union as possible. He simply sees Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova as “in his sphere of influence”.

This is why everyone is supporting Ukraine. This is why everyone is standing with Zelensky and no one is standing with Donald Trump.

As far as I see it, it's very similar to what the US has been doing since the 50's, where they just want to have that "sphere of influence"... oh, and resources.
Remember that they had a framework in place that imposed on Saudi Arabia that they would have to sell their oil in US dollars... that lasted for 50 years and ended last year.

With a thaw in U.S.-Russia relations, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the “foreign policy” alignment of the U.S. administration largely mirrors that of Moscow.

“The new (U.S.) administration is rapidly changing all foreign policy configurations. This largely coincides with our vision,” Peskov said, according to a post by state TV reporter Pavel Zarubin on Sunday on the Telegram channel.

Peskov spoke on Wednesday, before the Zelenskyy-Trump blowout on Friday.

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson is raising the prospect that Zelenskyy may need to leave office if a peace deal is to be reached.

“Something has to change. Either he needs to come to his senses and come back to the table in gratitude or someone else needs to lead the country to do that,” the Louisiana Republican tells NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Johnson says “it’s up to the Ukrainians to figure that out.” He adds that under President Donald Trump, the United States is “reasserting peace through strength.’’

The idea of Zelenskyy stepping aside had come up Friday after the Oval Office meeting. U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told reporters outside the White House that Zelenskyy “either needs to resign or send somebody over that we can do business with, or he needs to change.”

One of the lowest points in US history, and this seems to be only a starting point for the traitors in control of US government. Mark my words.
Europe has the economic power to face Russia in the long run, easily, and i hope that they wont fuck up because of petty selfishness and ignorance.
In all seriousness: I hope i can enjoy the rest of my life and burn through the money i have saved, until the world as we all knew it has completely crashed. I am not prepared for Europe to bow to yet another set of fascists/authoritarians.

Trump is destroying the country and it will take decades to recover, and likely never will. Cutting the government is a good step, since it has gotten too big, but the rest of this administration's efforts are a disaster.

Imagine if someone suggested to mike and his johnson that their boy vlad would have to leave office for there to be peace in ukraine? I mean, that much at least has the benefit of being true...even if it assaults his good christian conscience.
