THE Gun Thread
RE: THE Gun Thread
It was pretty difficult for most people to "give the man your money" in the time period questioned as well, thanks for bringing that up.

All sorts of firearms have been used, to varying degrees of success.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Quote:And they happened every week, right?

Oh - and guns were ROUTINELY brought into schools. (They absolutely were - most schools had rifle teams AND SHOT ON SCHOOL GROUNDS........)

Oddly - the kids didn' t shoot each other like the freakshow monsters they grow these days.....
They happened period that's the only counter required

Oh grow up.

A cop does not have to enforce ANY law if he feels it puts his life at risk. That' s what SCOTUS ruled.

I' m sure they' ll be happy to hear it...

May as well go ahead and defund the police, then. If they can pick and choose which laws to enforce, then there's no reason for your taxes to pay for guns, riot batons, tasers, pepper spray, handcuffs, tactical gear, or...quite frankly...cops.

It's strange, the police insist that no law is worth dying for..and yet, all these extrajudicial killings.....

They insist that no law is worth them dying for. Plenty of laws are worth the plebeians dying for. You know, crimes like running away, passing phony money, being black and nearby.

I don't see the point in talking about the old days when children could just bring guns to school and buy them with no need to do anything but pony up. Regardless of what schoolkids could have done 95 years ago, we don't live in that world anymore. What is your solution here? Make society regress into a delusion where it's 1927 forever and we don't live in a world where kids are acutely aware that you can just achieve a level of notoriety by shooting up their one-room schoolhouses? Or is it just to claim that, because there was a time when it wasn't necessary, that there's no way it can be necessary now? Like the time I, as a seventh-grader, was sent to a second-grade classroom and told to sit in the tiny desks, and when I pointed out that I can't fit in the fucking thing, they said I used to sit in there every day, like the last six years where I grew a foot taller and doubled my weight meant fuck-all.

And I would also point out that if you turned the clock back about 15 more years, that same child (or maybe their aunts or uncles) could buy heroin with the same non-existent level of oversight with which they could buy a tommy gun in 1927. And even as someone whose views on drugs lean towards "legalize everything," that still strikes me as fucking insane.

Whining isn't a good look on you.

You seem to want the cops to be something more than human.

Cops DO risk their lives all the time for people who are unable or unwilling to defend and or help themselves.

To expect another human being to rescue you when you get in trouble because you are unwilling to protect yourself is selfish and cowardly.

Yeah, fuckin moochers. They should pull their own safety up by it's bootstraps. So tell me again, why do we need cops in this world full of self reliant heroes that would so obviously be a better state than a policed society? Better to just rip off the bandaid and be done with it, right? Besides, you're all set up, blm and antifa won't be able to take over your junkyard!

Peak Biker Gun thread - suggests that people engage in a little security theater..rather than demand quality policing...for security..cuz selfish and cowardly.
