Yeah - no thanks.
Want to see the difference between two countries where they allow the citizens firearms or not?
Look at China - a brave unarmed man facing down a tank..... ( we don' t know where he disappeared to - but he was brave)
Then look at Ukraine - where the citizens could own guns.... They TAKE the tanks - and run the Soviets back to the border.... An unruly lot the Ukrainians. Ya gotta love ' em....
Lol China and Russia ....Countries that became dictatorships due to people with guns and were not prevented from becoming dictatorships by gun ownership......
Also, OLB seems to have forgotten that the man facing down the tanks was engaged in a non-violent protest ....So why would he have brought a gun to the protest? Also, Ukraine's victory is a lot more complicated than "they owned guns" This is a very simplistic view.
Kindly go adjust your tinfoil hat.
And even on the off chance that Ukraine’s victory actually is that simple, has it ever occurred to you that the geopolitical situation in the USA is so different that this particular pro isn’t all that meaningful for us? It’s not like Canada or Mexico has expressed any desires to capture US territory for themselves.

You have my solemn word that if Russian tanks roll across the US border, I’ll drop all of my concerns about American gun culture.

Guns are not the problem. People are the problem. Control the problem people.
1. Make it a felony for anyone adjudicated by a court of their gun rights, to have a gun. The adjudication can be because of criminal felony, or as needed for mental health issues.
This has been done.

Would criminals abide by this law? What if they just kept their old ID, or carried no ID a all?
(May 16, 2022 at 1:16 pm)onlinebiker Wrote: 3. Require a check of state ID at all gun sales - from FFL's or private citizens.
Agreed. I'd go further and require all private sales to go through FFLs.

Agree.

Forgive my ignorance, but isn't this a felony already?

Punishing the law abiding citizen for the actions of assholes is just plain fucked up.
I think if you own a machine that is designed to kill, you owe it to society to jump through extra hoops. My truck is not designed to kill people, yet I still must register it, and perform periodic tests to demonstrate my mental and physical capability to operate it safely. Would criminals respect laws?
Of course not. They don' t now.
You think they' re going to line up and register their guns - get licensed and insured like the proposals we hear - that only the law abiding will.follow?
At least with my way they won' t try buying guns from law abiding citizens.
Forcing all sales through FFLs is just more goddamned worthless paperwork and cost for the law abiding. Most shops charge between $25 and $50.
Once again you want to punish the wrong people..

I love how requiring everyone to follow the same laws becomes a "punishment"

This makes sense as the person in question wasn't crazy. As one doesn't need to be mentally ill to be a mass shooter.

That’s a baseless assumption on your part. https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/15/us/payton...index.html
Quote:"The student was taken into custody under NYS Mental Health Law section 9.41 and transported to the hospital for a mental health evaluation," state police told CNN in an email.
State police were unable to confirm how long the individual was in the hospital or the findings of the evaluation. They also refused to name the 17-year-old.
We don’t know that he was ‘fine’.
