This is interesting:
Concealed Carry Laws Increase Gun Crime
Quote:A new study finds concealed-carry laws lead to a boost in gun crime by between 29% and 32%, mostly by triggering a surge in gun theft.
The authors say they were unable to directly measure the deterrence effect of increased firearm carry on crime, but any effect, is small compared to the criminogenic effect. Concealed-carry laws, they note, were associated with a large increase in robberies — precisely the crime for which there is meant to be the largest potential for deterrence outside the home.
In essence, if you carry a gun, you’re more likely to have that gun taken away from you by a criminal (who will then use it to commit other crimes) than you are to use that gun to protect yourself from being robbed.

6 dead, more hospitalized in mass shooting at Highland Park Fourth of July parade, shooter being sought
https://chicago.suntimes.com/2022/7/4/23...de-gunfire
Quote:Six people were killed and possibly more than two dozen others wounded when a gunman started shooting 10 minutes after the Highland Park Fourth of July parade kicked off Monday morning, authorities said.
Shortly after noon, the Highland Park police said it remained an “active incident” and urged people to stay away.
A Chicago Sun-Times reporter saw blankets covering three bloodied bodies and five other people wounded and bloodied near the parade’s reviewing stand.
This is a couple towns away from me, BTB. Hell, about 12 hours before the shooting started, I was even closer to the area when I went to see Classical Mystery Tour at Ravinia.
And so, in the tradition of my America: The Drinking Game, here's a song that commemorates an according-to-Hoyle mass murder happening so close to me that the Fourth of July festivities in my hometown are being canceled:

All able bodied males, who are in the country, at the time a militia is needed, is the militia, IE the citizens. And since males and females are no longer a thing, I suppose that means everyone.

What the hell are you talking about? smart guns?
And lets say that was a thing, would it reduce violence?

A smart gun is one that uses biometrics to prevent anyone but the owner from firing the gun (sort of like the fingerprint login on your mobile phone).
It would reduce gun violence because if someone steals your gun, he couldn't use it to shoot someone.

In my opinion, such an Ammendment would narrowly restrict the definition of a "militia" to exclude nearly everyone.

I don't know how many saw the video of the black guy who fled police being lit up by up to 60 bullets. But here we are again, just like Roof, a white mass murderer suspect flees gets caught, and taken into custody in one piece. I am surprised they didn't buy the guy a hamburger on the way to jail.
