How might the edges in swing states change for him?

The election is 7 months away. That's plenty of time for Trump to lose more undecideds, or for something big to boost Biden. Or Biden could screw the pooch in that interim and those swing states -- Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Georgia amongst others -- could fall into Trump's lap due to low Democrat voter turnout. There's lots of ways changes might happen.

Offered only to the “top 1% of my supporters,” Trump wrote in the mass mailer, here was Lalani’s chance to secure a a black metal card “etched with my mugshot to show the world we will never surrender," tangible proof that Lalani was a card-carrying member of “Make America Great Again 2024.”
The problem? Having donated more than $30,000 to Trump’s Republican rival Nikki Haley, Lalani, 70, did not consider himself to be in the top 1% of Trump’s supporters.

Well let's see what we got here 1) a dishonourably discharged traitor 2) a washed up actor who takes his S&M sessions way too far, 3) a failed actor turned grifter, 4) a sex education denying misogynist, 5) a neo-nazi who wants to destroy the US political system (see his words at CPAC), 6) an anti-woman anti-abortion liar 7) a man who lied about his police service, his work and that of his "charity", who is a known sex offender and of whom I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be a child molester, 8) a serial traitor.

Former President Donald Trump easily swept to victory in a handful of additional Republican caucuses this weekend, looking ever more imperious in his bid for the GOP nomination. But new data from the Associated Press suggests his easy victories are hiding a serious potential problem: Never Trumpers aren’t changing their minds.

The AP reported on Sunday that even though a huge majority of Republicans appear to be enthusiastically on board with Trump, a significant fraction of those who voted in the first three GOP nominating contests say they will never vote for him in the general election. According to the analysis of Republican voters, 2 in 10 Iowa voters, 1 in 3 New Hampshire voters, and one quarter of South Carolina voters said they would not vote for Trump. While those numbers aren’t huge, Trump needs every last vote to do better than he did in 2020 when—as he often denies—he lost to Joe Biden.

The AP report did find, however, that just because those voters said they didn’t want to vote for Trump—ever—it didn’t mean they were Biden voters.

As gloomy as the AP’s findings were for Trump, Biden got his own bad polling breakdown news on Sunday as well. The New York Times released its own analysis of polling data that said 47 percent of Biden’s voters strongly agree that he is too old to be an effective president, and another 26 percent somewhat agree.

Of course what the AP probably didn't find was too many Democrat voters who wouldn't vote for Biden. Just because they want better doesn't stop then from voting for the good when it's the only thing available.

Of course. Either way, at least they are not on Trump's side.

Whatever the case, we all might no this by now, BUT Trump, and probably the people nominating Trump are only appealing to a number of republican voters. The number of such voters may be significant in size, but of course, they do not represent the entirety of the republican party, nor do they represent the whole of United States voters as well.

I guess what I am trying to say, as much as this may be known already, is that the politicians who may nominate Trump may fail to realize that not every republican in the USA is for Trump, and they are trying to please themselves by going with him instead of trying to please as much of the republican voters as they can, as they should be doing.

The truly odd bit is that, according to people who know more about this than I do, it that Haley stood a much better chance of beating Biden in the general than Trump did, so the GOP gritted its collective teeth, girded its collective loins, and nominated the candidate less likely to win.

This, as much as anything, exemplifies the dysfunctional clown show that the Republican Party has become.
