Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the independent candidate running for president, sent out a fundraising email Thursday that called the defendants who attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, “activists,” but his team later backtracked, saying it was an error.

The emails, sent to his supporters Thursday, said WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is a “political prisoner” and suggested that he and Jan. 6 rioters are victims of an “outrageous miscarriage of justice.”

“The Brits want to make sure our government doesn’t kill Assange. This is the reality that every American Citizen faces – from Ed Snowden, to Julian Assange to the J6 activists sitting in a Washington DC jail cell stripped of their Constitutional liberties,” it said.

Kennedy campaign spokesperson Stephanie Spear said in a statement obtained by The Hill that the email’s language was an error.

“That statement was an error that does not reflect Mr. Kennedy’s views,” Spear’s statement said, first reported by NBC News. “It was inserted by a new marketing contractor and slipped through the normal approval process.”

After House Republicans introduced legislation to rename an airport outside of Washington, D.C. after former president Donald Trump, a group of House Democrats are now proposing a bill to rename a federal prison in Miami after Trump.

The legislation, which would rename the Miami Federal Correctional Institution in Florida as the "Donald J. Trump Federal Correctional Institution," was officially filed on Wednesday, April 3.

Seems fitting.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson endorsed President Joe Biden during the 2020 election, but the pro-wrestler turned movie star isn’t planning to weigh in on the 2024 race.

“Am I going to do that again, this year? That answer's no,” Johnson said about his plans to publicly back Biden during an interview with Fox & Friends. “Not that I'm afraid of it at all, but it's just I realize that with this level of influence, I keep my politics to myself.”

Johnson said that believed endorsing Biden in the 2020 election was the best decision at the time. But shortly after, he realized sharing his political opinions only further flamed partisan division in the country.

"I wouldn't do that because my goal is to bring our country together,” he said. "So in the spirit of that, there's going to be no endorsement."

Johnson added that he believes the American people will make the right decision in the 2024 election.

“I trust that whoever they vote for, that's going to be my president. That's who I’m going to support," he said.
