RE: Is Trump going to Prison?
December 24, 2023 at 12:37 pm
Quote:Michael Cohen, former President Trump’s former fixer and personal lawyer, predicted on Saturday that Trump will try to capitalize on the indictments he faces for “as long as he can.”
“What he’s doing is he’s inciting his base. That’s really what it’s about because the more he incites them, the more money that they raise,” Cohen said in an interview with CNN’s Jim Acosta on Saturday.
“He will continue to ride this grift as long as he can,” Cohen added.
Trump has been indicted in four criminal cases, two federal, one in Georgia and one in New York. Cohen noted the significant prison time Trump could face if convicted on all counts, but he said he suspects Trump will only start to get nervous about the cases as they approach.
“As far as being desperate, unfortunately, Donald doesn’t see things the way most people see them. If the case is coming up in March, for him, that’s an eternity away. It’s only when it’s around the corner, several days out or a week or so out, does it really start to hit him, ‘Oh, my gosh, this is really coming up and I’m going to have to defend it,’” Cohen said.
“Remember the four cases that are now pending against him have legitimate jail time. I mean, they say that if he’s charged and found guilty on all the charges, he could potentially be sentenced to over 700 years,” he continued. “I mean, that’s a crazy, crazy number. So he will continue to ride this same ideology over and over and over again. It’s all in order to keep his base incited, and it’s all about the grift to raise more and more money.”

For someone whose favorite buybull passaages are deeply private (and we all know, this sack of complete shit has never has a thought that was even remotely private) he sure is invoking a lot of jebus this, and godiboi that.
As for his horde of mindless, sycophantic lemmings, they gobble it all up, since their ability to recall is severely inhibited by the giant ball of shit lodged between their ears.

I am coming around to the 14th Amendment argument. The text is clear. Anyone who engaged in insurrection or who gave succor to insurrectionists is disqualified from holding federal or state offices.
The irony of Trump defenders crowing for civil war as if that should be the reason to leave the cheeto on the ballot - that's precisely why section 3 of the 14th Amendment exists.
I wonder how Clarence will weasel out of this one.

It just seems to me that if you're not going to abide by the results of free & fair elections unless you win, and you'll resort to committing extortion and fraud and causing public unrest when the results don't go your way, there shouldn't be a huge surprise when you're disqualified from taking part in elections in the future. The idea that this is merely some desperate Democratic ploy to compensate for the weakness of our candidate is totally disingenuous.

My guess is that SCOTUS will rule that Claus 3 of 14A does not apply because Trump is not yet running for POTUS. He's running for a party nomination. This would certainly beg a big question after the GOP convention, unless the GOP did the unthinkable and fails to nominate him.

It's all he and his ilk have left. Reason and rule of law mean little, if anything, to them, except as how these can be weaponized against the "other side" when chump & Co. are in office. The chump has already said that he'll go after anyone who opposed him before, if elected. We've already seen what he can do.
