I wouldn't.....I would very much like to be able to shut my brain off and just believe whatever made me feel good inside. Can't do it.

When I was a kid I liked my blankey and my stuffed Oscar the Grouch.
Being comforted is not the same as being led.

I must have missed that part, between the threats of hell and the preaching of innate inadequacy in every human. That whole Rapture thing scared the shit out of me too, because I feared I would come up short.
I didn't find comfort (of a sort) until I abandoned faith and decided to roll with the flow.

I see Science and Religion as two different things. Religion is basically faith in a invisible authority. Whereas science is to understand the natural world. How to build a car, how to build houses and such.
It isn’t about building houses, skyscrapers, bridges, space shuttles, VHS players, CPUs or making our lives comfortable or saving lives or making any “products”.
Science is only about the accumulation of knowledge.
If you use that knowledge, it is called Applied science or engineering.
For saving lives, it is called medicine, medical techniques, dentistry...
For DVD players, cellphones, CPUs, it is called high tech or electrical engineering.

Wouldn't that be Judaism, or Hinduism, rather than Christianity?
Nah fuck it, there was a time before religions evolved . . . the OG is atheism!
Nah, the OG is agnosticism, you cannot reject deities until they exist.

Agnosticism and atheism aren't mutually exclusive.

I've never believed in any god/gods, even as a child raised in a catholic family. I hate all religions equally. Born godless, and going to die godless.

You may just be talking about the comfort of superstition here, as before...but...religions, genuinely held, are an aspirational struggle. An attempt to remake ourselves and the world. If that puts you at ease you may be a cretin, lol.
Let me ask you something. When it comes to politics. People are often very tribal. I for example am not biggest fan of Two Party Establishment and prefer Representative Multiparty System. Or there is the blame game of saying someone hates this and that, slurs insults. All the nasty things people say. When one is in that type of world. Then finding comfort in something that people can truly find unification under, to me that sounds like a good deal.
I only care whether the belief is true, and since it is a subjective belief, I remain dubious. However I don't believe your claims about Christian unity either, there are over 200 different Christian sects and denominations in the US alone, around 45k globally. Religions evolve, they cannot do otherwise it seems to me.
If I was to try and take solace in subjective ideas, then the hope for legal equality, and democracy for as many people as possible, would be my choices. That people are free, and that they should remain so, that we try to eradicate poverty, and create opportunity, hope can come from that, I see no evidence or need for religion. What's worse I have too long watched religions used to justify suffering, poverty, inequality, and all manner of evil and nefarious ideas. When a person believes that what they are doing reflects the will of a "perfect" deity, it is not a comforting thought to me at all, quite the opposite. Rather I value doubt, and scepticisms, and a desire to continually examine all ideas, claims and beliefs, if any belief can't withstand critical scrutiny, then why would I want to hold any such belief.
