How can you be convinced by the truth of something merely comforting?
Like lots of stuff in life. People find comfort in friendship, baking food, parties etc.
But in the end humans are tribal. With religion it puts a more ease on the mind, one can feel more relaxed in that sense. Its one of the places where people feel they belong together in a sense.

I understand why you might want to profess belief in something comforting. But actual belief? You're convinced for rational reasons. Maybe not actually rational but at least rational to you. Whereas you appear to be admitting an irrationality of belief. Which makes me question the genuineness of your belief.

If your religion puts ease on your mind, your religion may be shit. You may just be talking about the comfort of superstition here, as before...but...religions, genuinely held, are an aspirational struggle. An attempt to remake ourselves and the world. If that puts you at ease you may be a cretin, lol.

Let me ask you something. When it comes to politics. People are often very tribal. I for example am not biggest fan of Two Party Establishment and prefer Representative Multiparty System. Or there is the blame game of saying someone hates this and that, slurs insults. All the nasty things people say. When one is in that type of world. Then finding comfort in something that people can truly find unification under, to me that sounds like a good deal.

People can get that from opioids. We recently did, see how that worked out?
Anywho, there's no unification for me in your religion, if you even have one. Christianity is morally degenerate and divisive by design. The belief that a great sorting hat in the sky will spare those incompetents who seek to disabuse themselves of responsibility for their own bad behavior and annihilate all of those who would take ownership of the same.

There is a South Park parody called Go God Go. Which jokes on atheist warfare. But i am not saying if the world become Christian it becomes peaceful. I am merely saying it will put your mind at ease. That itself is pretty fine with me.
But i for example think it is delusional to say if you got rid of religion in USA then all problems would go away? I mean take AIPAC or lobbyist group. Or the fact that USA isnt all that much of a Democracy since its run by two party establishment.
But i am ranting. But alas religion shouldnt be in government in my view.

I am gonna quote Star Wars, where in Episode 6 i think "Obi Wan Kenobi talked about certain point of view". That is the struggle in a sense. But religion itself is black and white
