I've had plenty of IV bruises from donating plasma and I've never seen one that dark.

I’ve had morphine drips on the back of my hand that produced a map of Purplevania. Everyone’s different, I suppose.

I've had IVs placed in the back of my hand back when I was TFGs size. It was the only place a vein could be reliably located.

I had a nasty bruise once because of a mistake a phlebotomist made when I volunteered to give blood. She inserted the needle into the blood vessel in my arm but went completely through it and out the other side. It bled under the skin and I ended up with a bruise that was half the length of my forearm.
