US Strikes on Iran (Operation Epic Fury)
RE: US Strikes on Iran (Operation Epic Fury)
And if Iran’s Supreme Leadership council can be believed, Iran just won the war.

Quote:As part of the plan, the US has in principle agreed to lift all primary and secondary sanctions against Iran, the council said.

It has also agreed to accept Iran’s nuclear enrichment and recognize its continued control over the Strait of Hormuz, according to the council.

If those are indeed the terms, Trump just made an abject surrender.

After spending billions of dollars, making us look weak and foolish to the rest of the world, fucking up supply lines and driving oil prices to historic highs. And the mid-term election is a smidgeon under 6 months away. Good luck spinning this one, MAGA.

Oh, but's that's "just the weave". Fucking up on such a massive scale, and making the threats he's made are certainly grounds for Article 25, but everyone is still sucking his dick. Crazy, to say the least. There must be some sort of profit derived, somewhere where we can't see it. I'm living in a banana republic. I really wish that that kid had aimed just one more minute of angle...

You know? And these gas prices aren't going to disappear overnight. Inflation tends to be stubborn. And any fees Iran attaches to ships transiting the Strait will be passed on to consumers.

I think this is powerful evidence that there was no strategic objective to this war at all. This war happened only because Trump wanted it, and American miliary leadership lacked the spine to throw their commissions down as a gauntlet.

A policy disaster.

Yeah, I see estimates that gas prices won't subside for as long as a year.. This was an incredible pooch screw that won't soon be forgotten.

I can't imagine that the mid terms will be anything but a disaster for Republicans.

Of course, I couldn't have imagined that Trump could have possibly been elected in 2016 so I still feel like I'm living in a bizzaro scifi alternate universe.

The Iranians gave Trump the off-ramp he was desperately seeking. But it looks like it was mostly on Iran's terms.

(Bold mine)

I guarantee you they're going to spin it like a ping-pong ball in a cyclotron.

- I don’t have a PHD in Archaeology. Only a BA.

Right now I need to acknowledge in front of everyone that I might have been wrong about the whole thing since the beginning of this topic.

See: During D. Trumps first mandate the French President E. Macron tried to be nice with D. Trump trying to mediate with him and saying things like “I admire him” etc. While the German Chancelor A. Merkel who was a Medical Doctor knew exactly what kind of person D. Trump was.

So it seems like D. Trump did exactly the same thing with exactly the same civilization here Smile

Also:

It’s not over yet. We still need to see what Netanyahu does right now. Yesterday night he was still hitting Iran after the ceasefire.

Beside (and this isn’t about D. Trump anymore). Can you simply lift the sanctions on Iranian oil and let them control the strait of Hormuz (taxing all the ships etc)? And let them go on with their ballistic missile + nuclear program etc?

If so, Turkey + Saudi Arabia will be next. Both of these will have to invest into a similar drone + ballistic missile program just to have some sort of dissuasion against Iran.

The only thing good about the ceasefire is probably Israel not bombing Lebanon anymore. But I don’t know what D. Trump is trying to achieve on that front either.

So this doesn’t look very good. And don’t get me wrong. I simply perceived the guy as a typical republican like G.W. Bush who was a bit erratic too but still managed to make some good decisions. Right now, I simply don’t know.

So yes I might have got everything wrong from the very beginning. Sorry about that Smile

There are no clear victory conditions, but Trump has a pathological need to be seen as the winner even though we all know this is a losing gambit.

The Hill Wrote:President Trump in a new interview praised the two-week ceasefire deal reached with Iran as a “total and complete victory” for the U.S.

Trump told Agence France-Press (AFP) that there is “no question” that it is a U.S. victory. He also said in the brief interview that he believes China intervened to persuade Iran to negotiate.

“We have a 15-point transaction, of which most of those things have been agreed on,” Trump said. “We’ll see what happens. We’ll see if it gets there.”

The president also told the news outlet that Iran’s enriched uranium will be “perfectly taken care of, or I wouldn’t have settled.” He did not elaborate.
