- I don’t know what will happen in the midterms in the US. Do you ever talk to MAGA people in the US? Back in 2023 we had this huge earthquake here and the supporters of the Populist Party were saying they would support the AK Party despite the poor management of the earthquake by the state. Living in an alternate reality they were unwilling to even see the facts.
 
- I am very worried about Lebanon. Both the (Iran backed) Hezbollah and the IDF (that brags of having struck 100 locations in 5 minutes today) are foreign elements to Lebanon. What worries me the most (as a theist) is to observe the rise of tensions among different confessions in that region. I need to remind everyone that Christian, Sunnite and Shiite Muslims have lived peacefully for centuries in that same area under Ottoman and later colonial rule.
 
Sometimes I wonder if Israel + D. Trump didn’t start this war with Iran just to save the radical Islamist regime in Teheran that had started to crumble under it’s own weight (Just a theory but those things happen too )
 
- Finally Europeans are likely to get tired of all of this. First Putin starting in 2012, then this D. Trump in is first and second mandate. All these attacks on international law, International institutions, basic international rule (like free passage from international waterways) and I don’t even mention the effects of Brexit and attacks from the inside from others Lunatics like Viktor Orban.
 
In a more general manner Reason is under attack by very Ego-based and irrational powers. I think this is not a WWI or WWII situation, but much of our acquired rights and values are clearly under attack from all sides.
 
So on a very personal level: It’s probably the myth or archetype of the cowboy in my subconscious mind that deceived me. For more than a few weeks now I truly believed that he was going to resolve the whole thing
 
On Angela Merkel: Yes this is it. I read somewhere that she was a physician by vocation and I kept this as “doctor” in my mind

- That’s exactly what he looks like when you look from here (no offence to anyone). And for a moment, at the point when he started using very strong language on Twitter and ended his message with “Praised be Allah” I was almost sure that this was going to happen:





- No seriously. With Reza Pahlavi calling the Iranian people to descend to the streets, Netanyahu being on the same line, saying that he had no problem with the Iranian people itself and D. Trump finally joining in and starting the military operation in Iran (having demonstrated his military capacities with the Kidnapping of Nicholas Maduro), as I said, some part of me decided it was really possible.
 
/But back to reality: Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz is illegal. The UN cannot make a resolution on it because Russia and China are now blocking the resolution:

What D. Trump and other populist leaders did (or are trying to do) was to fragment Western Unity. Now one of the world’s most important waterways is being closed, basically by some guy with a rocket launcher. All world powers should be on the same page here (even Russia and China) but even the Europeans are not willing to go there because D. Trump made a joke out them for so many years and is even threatening to leave NATO as we speak.
 
So no offence to rural Americans here. But this is a bit what it is here right?
