This is madness. The U.S. is Israel's lapdog, and there is no coherent foreign policy. For all we know, Trump might really believe that Iran stole the 2020 election for Biden, and that is why he bombed them. Killing the Ayatollah isn't going to bring a stable democracy to Iran, not will it bring world peace.

I think this is what they call 'throwing long' in American football. You're in the fourth quarter, down by a few touchdowns. You can't afford conservative plays because you're running out of time. So, you throw as far down the field as you can, hoping one of your receivers can pull it in.

All the polls show the midterms are going to be a disaster for the Republicans. Trump will do everything he can to avert that disaster. This is a big gamble he's taking but if the Iranians manage to overthrow the regime and are on their way to establishing a secular democracy by the time of the election, he may be able to reverse his slide. History is not on his side but he probably figures he's got nothing to lose.

Yeah, no valentines here between the Khameini regime and the rest of the world, but knowing the pattern America has set in the past couple wars, I cannot expect the long-term outlook to be very good for Iran.
