US Strikes on Iran (Operation Epic Fury)

China seems to be invested in keeping good relations with traditionally friendly regime slike North Korea and Russia, and apply military power towards competitors across open waters like Japan, Taiwan and Philippines. Getting involved in the Middle East seems to be at least 2 steps ahead.

Normally, I'd agree with that assessment, and I suspect that's the direction that they'll go. OTOH, if Trump's blundering starts causing them real pain in terms of petroleum, then they may be forced to deal with a situation that's neither of their making nor something that they want to be involved in. Xi may find himself in the unenviable position of needing to be the adult in the room.

Never chalk up to malice that which can be explained by stupidity and incompetence. Or are we really believing that Trump could keep his mouth shut about this?

If he could, his foreign policy might be marginally more effective. A military maxim runs something like, ‘Don’t announce your next move to the enemy, especially on social media.’ -  Clausewitz

I can’t remember when the US has won a single war so many times.

Weird things are happening. Now D. Trump has to end “Operation Freedom” (The effort to secure the Strait of Hormuz via escorting of commercial ships by the US military) because M.B.S. does not want to let him use the Prince Sultan Airbase in his country:

I’m not sure I am seeing the whole picture here but this is not how Allies defeated Hitler and Mussolini back in 1944. Sad

I guess we can add Mohammad bin Salman to the growing list notables making Trump their bitch.

And the Allies defeated the Axis by behaving like allies.

He doesn’t have to end the operation because of an airbase. There’s no sense blaming mbs for trump doing what trump does for the same reasons he ever does anything. It isn’t playing well with maga pigfuckers and he can’t declare bankruptcy.

Y’all, gonna have to call off beating the nazis. Turns out they got Normandy. Nothing we can do about that.

We know that there will soon be shortages of fuel and fertilizer, but here's an unexpected result of Trump's crazy war:

A company in Hiroshima that makes potato chips has announced that its packaging will be in black and white for the foreseeable future. The chemicals needed to print color on the bags is petroleum-based and has become unavailable.

Most synthetic dyes are petroleum-based, although some countries have began phasing those out. A bigger concern is plastics.

Iran cannot go on with this war for more than a month or two. As I said before, if they cannot export their oil, they will have to shut down their oil wells. Once they are shut down, these are complicated to put back into operation.

The only problem we have is that few people are trusting the current administration in Washington. I’m seeing military experts on TV who are saying that D. Trump might just leave tomorrow morning and let the Europeans and Gulf countries correct all the misdeeds he has done.
