According to old magic book, god explicitly commanded a genocide then punished his chosen people for failing to fully carry it out. Seems like god, if there were a god, would have all the power. Seems like we lowly human worms would be defenseless against his whims. Turns out both things are false...or? Who knows, maybe that was a bad day for the big guy all around. Struck a guy dead on the spot for trying to keep his stupid ark from tumbling out of a rickety ox cart? I mean..the whole ordeal started over some business about a fruit......didn't contain himself to the couple...cursed the ground - made having kids hurt, invented thorns and weeds.......oh, and death.

I know, he became a newer more loving god at some point. Casually racist, a fig hater, a pig hater, setting brother against brother...talking in riddles to keep the wrong sort of people from being forgiven™, got everyone riled up about the end of the world before fucking off for 2k years and counting.

My logic is irrelevant here. I didnt even give one. My definition of genocide is irrelevant here (as is yours). There is a dictionary definition for genocide, but even that one is irrelevant. Lets not get stuck in discussing definitions, but thank you anyway for agreeing with me that genocide can not be justified, under no circumstance and lets focus on the topic: You trying to look for excuses for the wars (of aggression of the Israelites, ordered by your god, resulting in the extinction of entire tribes, which is the dictionary definition of genocide) in the OT.

I know some complain about the wars in the old testament. But i always felt they were existential wars against Pagan religions basically. I dont blame all Communists just because Holodomor happened for example.

I asked you in an earlier post (which you failed to reply to) about your opinion. Time for you to clarify now.

Depends how much you want to win or lose i guess? Do you want to defeat the Nazis if you lived in WW2 era, a war that killed 50 million and 80 million people? It all depends who you wanna side with? And what rhetoric convinces you the most.

But your comparison overgeneralizes. Israelites wanted to defeat the head leaders and anyone who threatened their religious cultural system of power. Not go on a kill spree of individuals who might have belonged to that group
