I used to think that people should be able to believe any shit they liked.
then 9/11 showed me what a properly motivated religious person is capable of and I changed my mind.

Until religion is no longer forced on people, but more importantly, on children, I shall not stop with my openess about my dislike for religion.
Teaching a child about santa and the toothfairy is fine...But, when you teach them even less believable bullshit superstition and even you still believe it to be true then that is where I call you deluded. And the deluded should not be allowed near impressionable children.
Religion should be private. Don't go preaching to non believers.

I feel the same, unfortunately I can't justify anyone telling anyone else how to raise their children. So, we will just have to push for less religious teaching and more open minded, free thinking, science based teaching in public schools. That's the best way of educating children who have been unlucky enough to be born into a religiously active family.
It can and does work, as the continuing lack of need for religion in highly educated countries (the U.S excluded) shows.

I would agree, it is a touchy subject when telling people what not to teach, but as long as faith schools are abolished in my time I shall die happy...to be honest, I will probably die happy anyway as I don't really fear death, as I know I will probably not be in an eternity of hellfire or have to live an eternity knowing billions are being tortured while I "live" in paradise.

Since faith schools are in general private and do not receive state or federal funds, you may have to wait a bit longer than a lifetime.
