I once heard Glenn Beck use this same argument that since our food is safe, we no longer need the FDA to regulate it. Um...you dumbfucks, the reason our food is safe is because of the FDA.
In MI, our newly elected governor needed to 'cut' the deficit so he raised taxes on the poor and elderly to the tune of several hundred million dollars(can't remember the exact number). Then immediately gave an even larger amount in tax cuts to Michigan businesses.

This must stop.
Stop? As far as the republicolibertarianazis are concerned this is merely the tip of the iceberg. What they want is France in 1788...with them as the aristocracy of course.

Arguing that the U.S. food supply is 99 percent safe, House Republicans cut millions of dollars Thursday from the Food and Drug Administration’s budget, denying the agency money to implement landmark food safety laws approved by the last Congress.
Saying the cuts were needed to lower the national deficit, the House also reduced funding to the Agriculture Department’s food safety inspection service, which oversees meat, poultry and some egg products. And lawmakers chopped $832 million from an emergency feeding program for poor mothers, infants and children. Hunger groups said that change would deny emergency nutrition to about 325,000 mothers and children.
My sister nearly died in that peanut salmonella thing. But then perhaps there is a conspiracy theory lying just beyond the scope of the article: The Republicans are secretly trying to kill those left-leaning liberal lesbians in marriages by allowing poisoned food to reach consumers?
It is a fairly safe bet that Republican representatives will not have to worry about safe food for themselves.

..or for the want of money, seing as they are for privatizing profit and socializing losses. This is common in aristocracies and fascism. In THAT kind of system, you are a worthless waste of space and cheap labor who deserves to starve unless you join on to the war machine. Then and only then will you get some decent food.
Read/watch the "Starship troopers" books/movies. America becomes a global fascist Empire under control of "The Sky Marshal". You arent considered a citizen unles you have done military work. In fact, you cant have kids, or vote, or run for politics unless you did military service. Most people think of fascism as sexist and racist. No, that is what some fascist groups have ADDED to fascism, like the Nazi's.
It's not just fascist. Pol Pot demonstrated that well enough.
It is... something like totalitarianism.
The below reeks of the same inhumanity as the above uses. How nice it is to have fiction express for us when single words fail nail down.

There are a lot of laughs to be had here.
My favourite is how Republicans dig the biggest hole in history, Obama inherits it and the good old boys shamelessly point out his failures. Honestly anywhere else in the world these guys would have had to go away and hide in shame for a decade at least. The failure of the US system didn't surprise me, not after the inadequate response to Enron and Worldcom. I suppose I'm out of touch, I just can't see how spending a trillion in Iraq is OK, it's for freedom, but spending it on healthcare diminishes freedom. Ha ha, funny world isn't it.

Actually, it's not funny if you live here, it's extremely sad. Like you said, they can convince the masses that follow them like lemmings that invading Iraq is for freedom, but things like universal health care is 'socialism.' America has become a cesspool of stupidity where being an ignorant politician is a badge of honor. It's all about pushing an agenda, the facts be damned and fuck the middle class. If anyone tries to fight for the middle class and make the super rich pay their fair share though, it is somehow considered class warfare.
Republicans use scare tactics and ignorance to get a large chunk of the population to vote against their own interests.

That's not true. Neither of Rico's parents were in the military. They were rich business owners who didn't want him to enlist. Then the bugs dropped a rock on them.
Honestly, the Starship Troopers "universe" was probably in much better shape than ours would be if we were dealing with an alien invasion. They didn't even have conscription.
