Judgement day is just a myth propagated to keep people in fear. Of course you probably think that on Judgement Day you will be one of the chosen few, because religious people that preach like you are just elitist assholes who dislike anyone that doesn't belong to their 'club.' Hey FNM,
You say that is not fair, but just out of curiosity, where do you derive what is and is not fair? There is a line in the movie The Labyrinth, which I know you have seen...
Sarah: "That's not fair!"
Jareth: "You say that so often, I wonder what your basis for comparison is?"
I think when atheists say God is not being fair it is along these same lines, what is your basis for comparison?

Yeah, that is such a great line.

I guess in the end I only have my subjective view of fairness to go on. To me, if God is going to punish people for not believing then a level playing field would only be fair. If God created each individual specifically, and each individual is predisposed to believe or not, then I find it highly unfair for him to send someone to hell for behaving in the manner that he created them.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

BTW, is that avatar a picture of you? Impressive tats if it is, I've always loved the sentiment behind that gesture, it's an epic way to intimidate an enemy.
I'm sorry too Rhythm. the absurdity of your statement got the better of me.
Right... I'm done rolling about the floor laughing...
Please tell me how a metaphysical being might be proved physically, empirically, that is to scientific standard.
See... that's a logical impossibility. You'd be wise to avoid such faux pas in polite company, unless you wish to appear foolish.
Frodo, I didn't ask for empirical proof did I? I think I was even quoted as saying "I'm not asking for empirical proof".
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
Is the biblical model of god based on the bible...a massive collection of stories detailing his various interactions and communications with human beings? What about the bible as a document is not meant to be universally convincing? God is creating physical things, suspending the motion of celestial objects, turning people into pillars of salt, destroying entire cities. Is this not supposed to be universally convincing?

Look, he says you won't question him. Also, I knew what your point was and there is a good reason for your point. How are the believers going to know right from wrong? Some people have to do wrong so the believers can learn from them and also guard against those people's wrongs, and so people have to be created to not notice him and carry on as they please. In addition, in this verse, it is not that bad of a deal for the non-believers because they are not bound by anything and can carry on as they like. Also, life is all about the interplay of opposites. The believers need the non-believers to survive and vice versa. The believers keep the non-believers on their toes and vice versa.
In addition, I am not here to preach the good word and to look down on people. At times, I like to argue and what better place to argue than over here.
Also, atheists are not exactly paragons of humility. I'd say that they are on a taller horse.
That people remain unconvinced, says nothing as to whether or not the bible was MEANT to be universally convincing. I think that to say it isn't wholly engrossed and engaged in the act of attempting to convince people of the truth of god is a strange position to take. But at least its a position, right.
