Maybe you really should stick to posting cartoons, I was wrong.

Presumably, believing that is the only way you can rationalise your little dusty old book. Undecided

Darwinian,

I am not aware of any scientists who will tell you they are trying to discover Truth (at least not with a capital “T”), that's more of a job for philosophy than science. It has nothing to do with my faith, it's just the way science works. We formulate theories and test them through experimentation and direct observation, we never say "we discovered the Truth today!"

Sorry, but I just find your statement "Science has never and never will be the pursuit of truth" to be one of the most extraordinarily bizarre things I have ever read!!

Well you should do some reading on the philosophy of science then, because that is exactly what is taught in upper division science courses at university. We are not working in the field to discover truth.

Whatever they seek, they know better than to search for it in a preposterous old book of fairy tales.

Yeah, seeking truth in a book full of fairy tales would be bad, not aware of too many people who do that though so I think we're ok :-) Now seeking truth in God's revealed word, not only is that a good idea, but it seems like it is the only rational one.

What is gods true word? Seems like a waste of time trying to find gods true word when all they do is misinterpret his word. All the years of searching for the "truth" in god, and it still hasn't been found. Somethings sorta weird there?

Religion is like a Penis, you shouldn't whip it out in public and you shouldn't shove it down your child's throat.

The difference between a fantasy book and the Bible is, if it's a contemporary fantasy, most likely the author(s) are able to be Googled so one learns they're real people. Secondly, if it's a work by a reputable publishing house, it will make sense from front to back. No errors, no inconsistencies in the storyline, no double talk. Also, the reader is forewarned on the cover as to the genre of the book; Fantasy.
So they know in advance they can choose to suspend their critical thought processes and allow themselves to be led into a work of pure imaginary fiction.

People tend to cling to whatever quells their fears. Be it a political ideology or a religious doctrine. It doesn't have to make sense, because to choose to first accept something invisible loves you precludes any expectation afterward of anything related to that first premise, in making sense.

In times of trouble, no matter the chapter or verse, what's imparted by those who hold the Bible as truth is; don't worry, god loves you, it's his will, it will all get better soon, this is an opportunity to grow in your faith and no matter what happens if you keep the faith you'll be a better person when you're dead.
"In life you can never be too kind or too fair; everyone you meet is carrying a heavy load. When you go through your day expressing kindness and courtesy to all you meet, you leave behind a feeling of warmth and good cheer, and you help alleviate the burdens everyone is struggling with."

Hey Pro-tip, if you own a bible you believe to be very old, there are researchers who would graciously accept the donation to help determine early type and methods, and as benchmarks for other printed works, since most presses have inked out bibles at some time or other, the type serves as a sort of fingerprint for the printer. Something of great value to collectors and appraisers of antique books.

The more you know.

Why don't you tell us what science is for then.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
