Are atheists against advertising their beliefs? Some atheists seem to be against arguing with theists. When does trying to change someone's point of view about something we disagree with become a bad thing to do? What you agree to knocking on doors with pamphlets to spread your ideas? Many people are unaware that atheism is even an option. You're either a theist that believes in god A or a theist that believes in god B and so on. We should give the undecided the better alternative: eternal damanation by atheism. lol

That's why we're here....but I wouldn't want to be like the theists who think everyone is just dying to hear their bullshit.

Considering we are all born atheist, I think we should try to stop the spreading of religion, instead of spreading atheism, cause without religion, there is no need for atheism.

I also don't consider it as different points of view. Atheism is natural, religion man-made, they have the burden of proof.

If someone was born and was never told about Jesus and God would they go to heaven or hell?
(of course its neither, but to a theist what is the answer)

I think advertising atheism would be a pretty difficult exercise. After all, due to the fact that the superstition of religion has such a worldwide grip, the concept of no faith is not considered attractive. Rather than advertising, I think the best we can do is to express our disdain for superstitious nonsense at every oportunity. It is not easy, but I take satisfaction when I can so do.

When there is a void, people usually fill it in with whatever. You have to give people an infrastructure to replace their old one and that can be any atheist philosophy that you believe in. I'm a metaphysical naturalist, so I would replace someone's theistic infrastructure with metaphysical naturalism.

40 years ago I think a lot of people would have been hard pressed to say they knew an atheist, much less knew what atheism was. Save for what they were told by their pastors, of course.

Today there are billboards, the Internet, bus advertising, atheist activism that garners headlines and books.

In 2007 Publishers Weekly and Book Expo America reported atheist titles are outselling religious books. So to answer the OP question, no I don't think atheists have a problem with informing the public about what atheism is. And most importantly, what it is not. i.e. a religion, a cult, a faith, a political ideology.
