Was that a coherent post?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

The biggest proponent of the Jesus myth theory is without a doubt Earl Doherty he has authored three books on the subject: The Jesus Puzzle, Neither God nor man, and Challenging the verdict. He lays out his theories quite thoroughly on his website at http://www.jesuspuzzle.humanists.net/home.htm The next in line is Robert M. Miller he is most known for writing a response to Lee Strobels 'The case for Christ.' Millers work is entitled 'The case against the case for Christ.' You can visit his official site at http://www.robertmprice.mindvendor.com/ And finally a great and lengthy article on the matter by R.G. Price can be found at http://www.rationalrevolution.net/articl...istory.htm I am a believer in the Christ myth theory and find the evidence against a historical Christ compelling. Take care and have fun reading all the information I have provided you. In the end it is your decision to choose what you think about the modern views on this matter.

Perhaps I'm not making myself clear. I am looking for published PhDs, preferably with expertize in middele eastern history, who are current or relatively recent professors at universities ad who have published on the issue of Jesus' existence. Thanks for the references Chat. I will look into those asap.

-- Samuel "Mark Twain" Clemens "I think that in the discussion of natural problems we ought to begin not with the scriptures, but with experiments, demonstrations, and observations". - Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) "In short, Meyer has shown that his first disastrous book was not a fluke: he is capable of going into any field in which he has no training or research experience and botching it just as badly as he did molecular biology. As I've written before, if you are a complete amateur and don't understand a subject, don't demonstrate the Dunning-Kruger effect by writing a book about it and proving your ignorance to everyone else! Robert Price fits the description of what you are looking for and Earl Doherty although he is not a phd professor has been lauded by Robert Price for his books and research on the subject as well.

Oh I don't know, because the people who are criticizing it are professional historians who have actually done the research? "The God Who Wasn't There" also contains a few fallacies, but it does have Richard Harris in it, who has at least done some research into the area. The stuff about ancient Gods having similar properties to Jesus are very varied; and most of it can be debunked by spending a few minutes on Wikipedia. If you have a little more time, here is a full debunking of the first part of the movie: http://conspiracies.skepticproject.com/a.../part-one/ (that site also contains sections debunking the movie in its entirety) (August 15, 2011 at 1:03 pm)orogenicman Wrote: Perhaps I'm not making myself clear. Thanks for the references Chat. I will look into those asap. Since you’ve changed your requirements to include relatively recent you might look into Alvar Ellegård. He died in 2008 but had published in the area of mythical Jesus.

Were you in a car crash immediately before typing that? You seem to have brain damage The Zeitgeist interpretation of the "Jesus Myth" is based almost entirely on the shoddy-scholarship of one "Acharya S", a bullshit artist if ever there was one. http://www.rationalresponders.com/proble...ief_review And that ^ is a BRIEF summary of the massive problems with her work.
