Out of interest, were any of them Church of England or Protestant?

Yes, I was brainwashed into Catholicism, specifically the Roman Catholic denomination.

I was raised a Lutheran. Almost was confirmed, not that I really understood or cared about Christianity.

For about a year I was a deist, unable to let go with the other hand to the first cause.

Then I simply stopped caring about such.

Yes.

I'm always amused when protestants say to me "if you rejected that you should try "jesus."

WTF do they think catholicks do....other than sodomize children?

I was brought up devout Irish-Catholic,which (imo) is the most pig ignorant, superstitious, bigoted and hateful form of a pernicious faith.Angry

Started asking embarrassing theological questions at 16. Left the Church at 20. Took me another 20 years to become (or admit) atheist.,

I voted yes, but I had a Catholic upbringing in only the loosest sense. I am pretty sure we never went to church outside of Christmas and Easter up until I was 7, and then we moved away from Montreal to Vancouver and the frequency of church visits dropped off significantly.

I went to a Catholic school for Kindergarten and part of grade 1, but that's it.

I became an atheist around 13 or 14 but my Catholic upbringing had no impact on my decision that I can discern. I certainly don't have any negative or traumatic experiences with the Catholic Church. Of course, it's possible I'm simply repressing all sorts of evil things, but I doubt it.

Then again, by the standards of most theists, if they can't prove my local priest didn't molest me, it's fair game for me to lump him in with all the other pedophiles Wink

Catholic schools from years 1 through to 10.

Church/chapel was just boring really, only the 'stations of the cross' ever really touched* me (Well they are murdering a lovely chap right in front of me! A bloke who I was told is like my best friend)

To be fair Padraic, the RCC had such an insurmountable foe in the superstitions of Irish people that they decided that incorporation rather than confrontation would be the best way to garner new customer..er...converts. St. Padraig does meet Ronain and Oisin on the road after all.
