Looks Like Catholics Are Catching On

Looks Like Catholics Are Catching On
http://ncronline.org/news/catholics-amer...and-change

Quote:ST. PAUL, Minn. - While one in every four American considers themselves Catholic, a new survey finds "Catholic" may be more of a brand label than a religious identity.

Of the 1,442 Catholics surveyed by the National Catholic Reporter, 88 percent said how a person lives is more important than whether they are Catholic.

Herr Von Popenfuhrer will be firing up the panzers when he hears about this!

This makes sense. I always thought that when I was a Catholic. We were taught that works were just as important (if not more important) as faith.
That will never hold up in court...

Oh and who in the world would argue that good works are meaningless in the face of faith. What terrible little bastard would like to claim that no amount of good can make one good, and that no amount of evil can overcome faith. Any takers?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Actually -a recent article in the NY Daily News quoted a study that said that MOST young "catholics" do not actually believe the religion - they go through the motions for family reasons. THey have n o intention of being religious later in life.

The obvious problem is that religion held people as long as the average person was UNEDUCATED and could not read. Later - religion tried to hide the truth - by telling people NOT to read the bible.

THE problem with that -is - the more people read the bible from page one - the more that are likely to laugh

What Phaedra said. It was my experience that Catholics value good deeds more than anything. "Compassion is God's favorite way, it leads to salvation on judgement day."

By doing good works, you are following in the footsteps of Christ whether you believe in him or not. It's what the Catholic church taught me, anyway.

Without sola fides, Christianity is a self-falsifying prophecy; leave it to the original sheep to appeal to herd mentality.
