We already do (e.g. ISS). A lot of what's being scrapped isn't really that expensive, in terms of total government spending in the USA, and there's certainly money being spent in areas that many of us would like to see directed to something more constructive.
But, I do agree that more international cooperative efforts in space exploration would be a good thing. The barriers for entry into space exploration are enormous, and international cooperation would allow nations to participate who otherwise would not be able to do so on their own due to technological and financial barriers. There's certainly a wealth of talent in many places that don't have their own space programs.

I noticed all the stuff mentioned was in the 60's. Take note, that was 40-50 years ago and what since, planetary wise? Very little bang for buck. What is the US obsession with this shit, it's a money drain.
' We are sacrificing the forward momentum of our race,
What race? More importantly, what momentum?
'set an example of the quest for knowledge'
Maybe a better idea would be to use that money to better educate inner city youths or improve America's poor maths and science teaching?

Obama's decision concerning NASA might actually be a good thing. Obama needs encourage private sector investment in space. For instance; there is money to be made in space tourism, lunar mining and zero-G manufacturing.

Neil deGrasse Tyson explains why NASA is worth many times any investments in it.

I was pissed enough when they cut NASA, but scrapping it altogether is bullshit.
Now you know how it felt for us when our fucking government scrapped our space program decades ago. We were top for developing aircrafts and rockets, till retarded fucks got in and scrapped the whole thing.
It seems, no matter what country you're in, no matter how free it may seem. You just can't avoid retards who's only interest is to fuck things up and look good for the cameras.
Now you know why I don't vote. They're all corrupt, blind retarded fucks.
There's no such thing as a good honest politician. If there ever were any, there in the past and spinning in their graves.

Maybe who you think would do the least damage in you constituency, remembering that you vote for local politics, not national.
Secondly, one of my best buds told me about our space program, seem to remember him saying something about us having the Virgin Galactic type spacecraft for launching satellites, cornering the industry, and Thatchers mob pulling the plug. Unusual for him to complain about her as he is an ardent fan of the bitch.

Problem I have is that there are so many corrupt people out there. Especially in business and politics. The party you vote in could do more damage than the last one.
Personally I think the two least corrupt parties are the English Parliament party and the UK independence party. The UKIP I'd probably vote for.
